The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

Before 05 Jun 1525 [his father] George Leslie 4th Earl Rothes (age 40) and (age 60) were married. She by marriage Countess Rothes.

Before 29 Jan 1530 [his father] George Leslie 4th Earl Rothes (age 45) and [his step-mother]  (age 32) were married. She by marriage Countess Rothes.

Before 29 Jan 1530 [his father] George Leslie 4th Earl Rothes (age 45) and [his step-mother]  (age 28) were married. She by marriage Countess Rothes.

Before 1541 Andrew Leslie 5th Earl Rothes was born to George Leslie 4th Earl Rothes (age 56).

On 16 Jun 1548 Andrew Leslie 5th Earl Rothes (age 7) and were married. She by marriage Countess Rothes. He the son of George Leslie 4th Earl Rothes (age 63).

On 24 Nov 1558 [his father] George Leslie 4th Earl Rothes (age 74) died. His son Andrew Leslie 5th Earl Rothes (age 17) succeeded 5th Earl Rothes.

Between Sep 1568 and 1573 [his wife]  died.

After 21 Feb 1575 [his son] James Leslie Master of Rothes and [his daughter-in-law] Margaret Lindsay (age 24) were married. The difference in their ages was 29 years. He the son of Andrew Leslie 5th Earl Rothes 1530-1611 (age 34).

In 1577 [his son-in-law] James Sinclair Master of Sinclair and [his daughter] Isabel Leslie were married. She the daughter of Andrew Leslie 5th Earl Rothes 1530-1611 (age 36) and Grizel Hamilton Countess Rothes -1568.

On 11 Jan 1580 [his son] James Leslie Master of Rothes was born to Andrew Leslie 5th Earl Rothes (age 39).

In 1607 [his son] James Leslie Master of Rothes (age 26) died.

On 17 Feb 1610 [his son-in-law] James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater and [his daughter] Elizabeth Leslie were married. She the daughter of Andrew Leslie 5th Earl Rothes 1530-1611 (age 69). They were half first cousin once removed.

In 1611 Andrew Leslie 5th Earl Rothes (age 70) died. His grandson  (age 11) succeeded 6th Earl Rothes.
