All About History Books
The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In December 1755 [his father] Rear-Admiral Thomas Graves (age 75) died. Memorial at St James' Church, Antony [Map] to him and his second wife [his mother] Elizabeth Budgell.

Elizabeth Budgell: Around 1693 she was born. In April 1738 she died.
In 1771 Admiral Thomas Graves 1st Baron Graves (age 45) and Elizabeth Williams were married.
On 28th May 1775 [his son] Thomas North Graves 2nd Baron Graves was born to Admiral Thomas Graves 1st Baron Graves (age 49) and [his wife] Elizabeth Williams.
Around 1777 [his daughter] Margaret Anne Graves was born to Admiral Thomas Graves 1st Baron Graves (age 51).

On 24th October 1794 Admiral Thomas Graves 1st Baron Graves (age 69) was created 1st Baron Graves of Gravesend in Londonderry.
In 1802 [his son-in-law] Christopher John Williams Nesham (age 31) and [his daughter] Margaret Anne Graves (age 25) were married.
On 9th February 1802 Admiral Thomas Graves 1st Baron Graves (age 76) died. His son [his son] Thomas (age 26) succeeded 2nd Baron Graves of Gravesend in Londonderry.
