After 1538 [her son] Henry Herbert 2nd Earl Pembroke was born to [her husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 37) and Anne Parr Countess Pembroke (age 22). He married (1) his fourth cousin Catherine Grey Countess Hertford, daughter of Henry Grey 1st Duke of Suffolk and Frances Brandon Duchess of Suffolk (2) his third cousin once removed Catherine Talbot Countess Pembroke, daughter of George Talbot 6th Earl of Shrewsbury and Gertrude Manners Countess Shrewsbury and Waterford (3) his sixth cousin 21st April 1577 Mary Sidney Countess Pembroke and had issue.
In 1539 [her brother] William Parr 1st Marquess Northampton (age 27) was created 1st Baron Parr of Kendal.
On 17th April 1543 [her brother] William Parr 1st Marquess Northampton (age 31) and [her sister-in-law] Anne Bourchier 7th Baroness Bourchier (age 26) were divorced by an Act of Parliament and their children declared illegitimate.
On 12th July 1543 [her brother-in-law] Henry VIII (age 52) and [her sister] Catherine Parr (age 30) were married at Hampton Court Palace [Map]. She was crowned Queen Consort England. His sixth and last marriage, her third marriage; her previous [her former brother-in-law] husband had died four months before. The difference in their ages was 21 years. He the son of King Henry VII of England and Ireland and Elizabeth York Queen Consort England. They were third cousin once removed. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
Henry's two daughters Mary (age 27) and Elizabeth (age 9) attended, as did his niece Margaret Douglas Countess Lennox (age 27).
Catherine's sister Anne (age 28) attended with her husband [her husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 42).
On 23rd December 1543 [her brother-in-law] Henry VIII (age 52) enobled his [her sister] new wife's (age 31) [her brother] brother (age 31) and [her uncle] uncle (age 60) at ceremony in the Presence Chamber, Hampton Court Palace [Map]. Henry Grey 1st Duke of Suffolk (age 26) and Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby (age 34) were present. Christopher Barker read the Patents.
William Parr 1st Baron Parr of Horton was created 1st Baron Parr of Horton. William was sixty with five daughters. He died four years later at which time the Barony became extinct.
William Parr 1st Marquess Northampton was created 1st Earl Essex. His estranged wife [her sister-in-law] Anne Bourchier 7th Baroness Bourchier (age 26) was daughter of the last Earl of Essex of the Fifth Creation. A somewhat curious choice given his wife had eloped the year previous year with John Lyngfield, the prior of Tandbridge, Surrey [Map], by whom she had an illegitimate child.
Around 1547 [her son] Edward Herbert was born to [her husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 46) and Anne Parr Countess Pembroke (age 31) at Welshpool [Map]. He married before 1573 Mary Stanley and had issue.
Around May 1547 [her brother-in-law] Thomas Seymour 1st Baron Seymour (age 39) and [her sister] Catherine Parr Queen Consort England (age 34) were married in secret only four months after the death of [her former brother-in-law] King Henry VIII of England and Ireland. They were sixth cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
In 1548 [her brother] William Parr 1st Marquess Northampton (age 36) and [her sister-in-law] Elisabeth Brooke Marchioness Northampton (age 21) were married. She by marriage Marchioness Northampton. They were fourth cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
On 5th September 1548 [her sister] Catherine Parr Queen Consort England (age 36) died from childbirth having given birth to her daughter [her niece] Mary Seymour six days before. She was buried at Sudeley Castle [Map]. William Harvey (age 38) as Somerset Herald of Arms in Ordinary was the only herald to attend her funeral.
In 1550 [her daughter] Anne Herbert was born to [her husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 49) and Anne Parr Countess Pembroke (age 34). She married her third cousin once removed Francis Talbot, son of George Talbot 6th Earl of Shrewsbury and Gertrude Manners Countess Shrewsbury and Waterford.
11th October 1551, the day before his fourteenth birthday, King Edward VI (age 13) celebrated at Hampton Court Palace [Map] by rewarding his guardians; it may have been a case of his guardians rewarding themselves.
John Dudley 1st Duke Northumberland (age 47) was created 1st Duke Northumberland. Jane Guildford Duchess Northumberland (age 42) by marriage Duchess Northumberland. His son Henry Dudley (age 25) was knighted.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

After 20th February 1552 [her former husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 51) and Anne Talbot Countess Pembroke (age 28) were married. She by marriage Countess Pembroke. The difference in their ages was 22 years. She the daughter of George Talbot 4th Earl of Shrewsbury and Elizabeth Walden (age 61).
Henry Machyn's Diary. 28th February 1552. The xxviij day of Feybruarii was bered the nobull [lady the] contes of Penbroke (deceased), and syster to the [her sister] late qwyne and wyffe [to the] nobull Kyng Henry the viij. late kyng, and the good lade [the] contes of Penbroke the wyche she ded at Benard Castle [Map], and so cared unto Powlls. Ther was a C. [Note. 100] powre men and women had mantylle fryse gownes, then cam the haroldes, [then] the corse, and a-bowt her viij baners rolls of armes, and then cam the mornars boyth lordes and knyghts and gentyll men, and then cam the lades mornars and gentyll women mornars ij C. [then the] gentyll men and gentyll women, and after cam in cotts ij C. servandes and odur servandes, and she was bered by the tombe of [the duke] of Lankaster [Note. At St Paul's Cathedral [Map]], and after her banars wher sett up over her [and her] armes sett on dyvers pelers,-the vj King Edward vjth.
Note. Funeral of the countess of Pembroke. King Edward in his Diary records the death of the countess of Pembroke on the 20th Feb. 1551–2. As sister to queen Katharine Parr, she was a person of high consideration. A magnificent canopied monument to William Herbert, earl of Pembroke, and his countess Anne, with their recumbent effigies, and kneeling effigies of their three children, Henry earl of Pembroke, sir Edward Herbert knt. and Anne lady Talbot, was erected in St. Paul's cathedral, next the monument of John of Ghent, duke of Lancaster, and is represented in a plate of Dugdale's History of St. Paul's.
On 17th March 1570 [her former husband] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 69) died at Hampton Court Palace, Richmond [Map]. His son [her son] Henry (age 32) succeeded 2nd Earl Pembroke. [her daughter-in-law] Catherine Talbot Countess Pembroke (age 20) by marriage Countess Pembroke.
In May 1571 [her brother] William Parr 1st Marquess Northampton (age 59) and Helena Snakenbourg Marchioness Northampton (age 22) were married. She by marriage Marchioness Northampton. The difference in their ages was 37 years.
On 28th October 1571 [her brother] William Parr 1st Marquess Northampton (age 59) died at Warwick Priory, Warwickshire [Map]. He was buried in the Chancel of St Mary's Church, Warwick [Map]. His funeral was paid for by Queen Elizabeth I of England and Ireland (age 38). Marquess Northampton and Earl Essex, Baron Parr of Kendal extinct.
