William of Worcester's Chronicle of England
William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 20th July 1742 [his father] Arthur Devis (age 30) and [his mother] Elizabeth Faulkener (age 23) were married at Church of St Katharine's by the Tower, Tower Hill [Map]. They had twenty-two children of which only six survived infancy.
On 10th August 1762 Arthur William Devis was born to [his father] Arthur Devis (age 50) and [his mother] Elizabeth Faulkener (age 43).

General Edward William Leyborne Popham: On 27th June 1764 he was born to William Leybourne Leyboure and Anne Popham. In or before 1821 he and Elizabeth Andrew were married. On 16th June 1843 he died. He was buried at St Mary's Church, Chilton Foliat.

James Duff 2nd Earl Fife: On 29th September 1729 he was born to William Duff 1st Earl Fife. On 5th June 1759 James Duff 2nd Earl Fife and Dorothea Sinclair. On 30th September 1763 William Duff 1st Earl Fife died. His son James succeeded 2nd Earl Fife. In 1809 James Duff 2nd Earl Fife died without issue at Fife House Whitehall Palace. His brother Alexander succeeded 3rd Earl Fife.

Colonel William Monson: On 15th December 1760 he was born to John Monson 2nd Baron Monson. On 10th January 1786 Colonel William Monson and Anne Debonnaire were married in Calcutta, India. On 26th December 1807 Colonel William Monson died.
Anne Debonnaire: she was born to John Debonnaire. In 1841 she died.

Robert Chambers: On 14th January 1737 he was born to Robert Chambers at Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland [Map]. In 1774 he and Frances Wilton Lady Chambers were married. She the daughter of Joseph Wilton. On 9th May 1803 he died.
Frances Wilton Lady Chambers: she was born to Joseph Wilton.
On 25th July 1787 [his father] Arthur Devis (age 75) died at Brighton.
In 1788 [his mother] Elizabeth Faulkener (age 69) died.

Abbot John Whethamstede’s Chronicle of the Abbey of St Albans
Abbot John Whethamstede's Register aka Chronicle of his second term at the Abbey of St Albans, 1451-1461, is a remarkable text that describes his first-hand experience of the beginning of the Wars of the Roses including the First and Second Battles of St Albans, 1455 and 1461, respectively, their cause, and their consequences, not least on the Abbey itself. His text also includes Loveday, Blore Heath, Northampton, the Act of Accord, Wakefield, and Towton, and ends with the Coronation of King Edward IV. In addition to the events of the Wars of the Roses, Abbot John, or his scribes who wrote the Chronicle, include details in the life of the Abbey such as charters, letters, land exchanges, visits by legates, and disputes, which provide a rich insight into the day-to-day life of the Abbey, and the challenges faced by its Abbot.

In or before 1810 Arthur William Devis (age 47) and Margaret Lanchester (age 25) were married. The difference in their ages was 21 years. He the son of Arthur Devis and Elizabeth Faulkener.

Reverend John Page-Wood 2nd Baronet: In 1796 he was born to Matthew Wood 1st Baronet and Maria Page. On 25th September 1843 Matthew Wood 1st Baronet died. His son John succeeded 2nd Baronet Wood of Hatherley House in Gloucestershire. In 1866 Reverend John Page-Wood 2nd Baronet died. His son Francis succeeded 3rd Baronet Wood of Hatherley House in Gloucestershire.
In 1818 [his wife] Margaret Lanchester (age 34) died. She was buried at St Giles' in the Fields Church [Map].

Ellen Devis: In December 1746 she was born to Arthur Devis and Elizabeth Faulkener. In February 1820 she died.
Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.
