Biography of Coulson Wallop 1774-1807

On 27th August 1763 [his father] John Wallop 2nd Earl Portsmouth (age 21) and [his mother] Urania Fellowes (age 21) were married.

On 19th September 1774 Coulson Wallop was born to John Wallop 2nd Earl Portsmouth (age 32) and Urania Fellowes (age 32).

The London Gazette 13680. 29th April 1794. South Regiment. The Hon. Coulson Wallop (age 19) to be Captain of a Volunteer Company. Dated April 29, 1794.

The London Gazette 13765. 4th April 1795. South-Hants. George Frederick, Esq; to be Captain, vice Sir Simeon Stuart.

The Hon. Colson Wallop (age 20) to be Captain, vice Peter Serle, Esq;

Noble Spring, Esq; to be Lieutenant.

Edmund Wagg, Esq; to be Ensign.

In 1796 Coulson Wallop (age 21) was elected MP Andover which seat he held until 1802.

On 16th May 1797 [his father] John Wallop 2nd Earl Portsmouth (age 54) died. His son [his brother] John (age 29) succeeded 3rd Earl Portsmouth, 3rd Viscount Lymington, 3rd Baron Wallop of Farley Wallop Hampshire.

On 5th August 1800 John King reported to William Pitt that Coulson Wallop (age 25) was ... little better than an idiot, in addition to which he has spent all his money, and his [his mother] mother (age 58) does not think him a proper person to continue to represent [Andover]. At the same time she is anxious to obtain some provision for him (to the extent of about £400 per annum) and provided I can be the means of effecting this, I am to be considered as the family Member.

On 2nd April 1802 Coulson Wallop (age 27) and Catherine Townley Keatinge were married. There were no children from the marriage. He the son of John Wallop 2nd Earl Portsmouth and Urania Fellowes (age 60).

In 1803 Coulson Wallop (age 28) was detained at Verdun when war broke out. In Feb 1805 he was removed to the the fortress of Bitche for having an affair with the wife of another English detainee

On 31st August 1807 Coulson Wallop (age 32) died of apoplexy whilst imprisoned at Verdun.
