On 30 Sep 1472 [her father] Thomas Howard 2nd Duke of Norfolk (age 29) and Elizabeth Tilney Countess of Surrey (age 28) were married. He the son of [her grandfather] John Howard 1st Duke of Norfolk (age 47) and [her grandmother] Katherine Moleyns. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward I of England.
On 17 Aug 1497 [her father] Thomas Howard 2nd Duke of Norfolk (age 54) and [her mother] Agnes Tilney Duchess Norfolk (age 20) were married some four months after the death of his first wife. She by marriage Countess Surrey. She, Agnes, was a first cousin of his former wife Elizabeth Tilney Countess of Surrey for which he was given dispensation on 17 Aug 1497. The difference in their ages was 34 years. He the son of [her grandfather] John Howard 1st Duke of Norfolk and [her grandmother] Katherine Moleyns. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward I of England.
Around 1511 Dorothy Howard Countess Derby was born to Thomas Howard 2nd Duke of Norfolk (age 68) and Agnes Tilney Duchess Norfolk (age 34).
On 21 May 1524 [her father] Thomas Howard 2nd Duke of Norfolk (age 81) died at Framlingham Castle, Suffolk [Map]. He was buried at Thetford Priory, Norfolk [Map] and subsequently reburied at the Church of St Michael the Archangel, Framlingham [Map]. His son [her half-brother] Thomas Howard 3rd Duke of Norfolk (age 51) succeeded 3rd Duke Norfolk, 2nd Earl Surrey. Elizabeth Stafford Duchess Norfolk (age 27) by marriage Duchess Norfolk.
In or before 1530 [her future husband] Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby (age 20) and Katherine Howard Countess Derby were married without the King's permission. She the daughter of [her half-brother] Thomas Howard 3rd Duke of Norfolk (age 56) and Elizabeth Stafford Duchess Norfolk (age 32). He the son of Thomas Stanley 2nd Earl of Derby and [her future mother-in-law] Anne Hastings Countess Derby (age 44). They were third cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III of England.
Before Sep 1531 Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby (age 22) and Dorothy Howard Countess Derby (age 20) were married. She by marriage Countess Derby. She the daughter of Thomas Howard 2nd Duke of Norfolk and Agnes Tilney Duchess Norfolk (age 54). He the son of Thomas Stanley 2nd Earl of Derby and Anne Hastings Countess Derby (age 46). Sunday, 1 Sept. 1532, 24 Hen. VIII. The lady was conveyed by noblemen and the officers of arms at Windsor Castle to the King, who was accompanied by the dukes of [her half-brother] Norfolk (age 59) and Suffolk (age 48) and other noblemen, and the ambassador of France. Mr. Garter bore her patent of creation; and lady Mary (age 13), daughter to the duke of Norfolk, her mantle of crimson velvet, furred with ermines, and a coronet. The lady Marques, who was "in her hair," and dressed in a surcoat of crimson velvet, furred with ermines, with strait sleeves, was led by Elizabeth countess of Rutland (age 37)1, and Dorothy countess of Sussex2. While she kneeled before the King, Garter delivered her patent, which was read by the bishop of Winchester (age 49). The King (age 41) invested her with the mantle and coronet, and gave her two patents,—one of her creation, the other of £1,000 a year. She thanked the King, and returned to her chamber.
Gifts given by the lady Marques:—To Mr. Garter, for her apparel, £8; to the Office of Arms, £11. 13s. 4d. The King gave them £5.

Hall's Chronicle 1532. [28 Oct 1532]. After supper came in the Marchioness of Pembroke (age 31), with seven ladies in masking apparel, of strange fashion, made of clothe of gold, compassed with crimson tinsel satin, owned with cloth of silver, lying loose and knit with laces of gold: these ladies were brought into the chamber, with four damsels apparelled in crimson satin, with tabards of fine cypress: the lady Marques took the French King, and the Countess of Derby (age 21), took the King of Navarre, and every Lady took a Lord, and in dancing the King of England, took away the lady’s visors, so that there the ladies beauties were shewed, and after they had danced a while they ceased, and the French King talked with the Marchioness of Pembroke a space, and then he took his leave of the ladies, and the King conveyed him to his lodging: the same night the Duke of Norfolk feasted all the nobles of France, being there in the castle of Calais, with many goodly sports and pastimes.

And at after-noone the kynge of Englande went to Staple hall to the frensshe kynge and there was bothe bere baytynge and bulbayting tyll nyght. After Jan 1534 [her sister-in-law] Margaret Stanley Countess Sussex died.
Around 1542 [her daughter] Anne Stanley Baroness Stourton was born to [her husband] Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby (age 32) and Dorothy Howard Countess Derby (age 31).
In May 1545 [her mother] Agnes Tilney Duchess Norfolk (age 68) died. Her will was executed while she was still a prisoner. It read:
“I, Agnes, Duchess of Suffolk, widdowe, of late the wife of the most noble Prince, Thomas Duke of Norfolk deceased, make my will XII days of Marche, 1542. My bodye to be buried within the parishe churche of Lambithe, County Surrey, in suche place whereas I have prepared my Tomb. To my Chapple of Lambith, my best chalice of silver and gilte with the patten. I will that my sonne Lord William Howarde have iij partes of all my goodes, both household stuffe, Juells, and Plate. I give to my Lady Bridgewater my daughter, the fourth part of all my goodds, and four parts of all my rayment (clothing). To Sir John Rabon, chauntry priste of Lambithe, a sliver spones. To my nephew, Tinlay (Tilney), a goblet of sliver and gilte without a cover. Executors of my will, my sonne Lord William Hawarde, and my nephew, Tynlay.
Agnes Howard
Around 1550 [her son-in-law] Henry Parker 12th Baron Marshal 11th Baron Morley (age 16) and [her daughter] Elizabeth Stanley Baroness and Morley (age 17) were married. She by marriage Baroness Marshal, Baroness Morley. She the daughter of [her husband] Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby (age 40) and Dorothy Howard Countess Derby (age 39).
Before 1553 [her son-in-law] Charles Stourton 8th Baron Stourton (age 32) and [her daughter] Anne Stanley Baroness Stourton (age 10) were married. The difference in their ages was 22 years. She the daughter of [her husband] Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby (age 43) and Dorothy Howard Countess Derby (age 41).
On 07 Feb 1555 [her son] Henry Stanley 4th Earl of Derby (age 23) and [her daughter-in-law] Margaret Clifford Countess Derby (age 15) were married. She the daughter of Henry Clifford 2nd Earl of Cumberland (age 38) and Eleanor Brandon Countess Cumberland. He the son of [her husband] Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby (age 45) and Dorothy Howard Countess Derby (age 44). They were fourth cousins. She a great granddaughter of King Henry VII of England and Ireland.
In 1557 [her son-in-law] John Arundell (age 27) and [her daughter] Anne Stanley Baroness Stourton (age 15) were married. She the daughter of [her husband] Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby (age 47) and Dorothy Howard Countess Derby (age 46). They were half third cousins.
On 01 Jan 1562 the New Years Gift Giving was held. Those who gave gifts provide an interesting who's who of the Elizabethan Court soon after Elizabeth I's Coronation. Queen Elizabeth (age 28) was present since a number are described as "With the Qene her Majestie."

Lady Margaret Strange married [her son] Henry Stanley Lord Strange (age 30) on 07 Feb 1555. In 1561 he had not succeeded to Earldom of Derby and was known by the courtesy title Lord Strange. She is listed first since she was one of the few remaining direct descendants of Henry VII, being a great-granddaughter by his daughter Mary Tudor. Margaret Clifford was first in line to succeed in 1568 but died in 1596 before Elizabeth I.
