Abbot John Whethamstede’s Chronicle of the Abbey of St Albans
Abbot John Whethamstede's Register aka Chronicle of his second term at the Abbey of St Albans, 1451-1461, is a remarkable text that describes his first-hand experience of the beginning of the Wars of the Roses including the First and Second Battles of St Albans, 1455 and 1461, respectively, their cause, and their consequences, not least on the Abbey itself. His text also includes Loveday, Blore Heath, Northampton, the Act of Accord, Wakefield, and Towton, and ends with the Coronation of King Edward IV. In addition to the events of the Wars of the Roses, Abbot John, or his scribes who wrote the Chronicle, include details in the life of the Abbey such as charters, letters, land exchanges, visits by legates, and disputes, which provide a rich insight into the day-to-day life of the Abbey, and the challenges faced by its Abbot.

On 1st April 1767 Edward Jervis Ricketts aka Jervis 2nd Viscount St Vincent was born to [his father] William Henry Ricketts [aged 30] and [his mother] Mary Jervis [aged 30].
On 29th January 1790 Edward Jervis Ricketts aka Jervis 2nd Viscount St Vincent [aged 22] and Mary Cassandra Twisleton [aged 15] were married.
On 11th October 1794 [his son] William Jervis was born to Edward Jervis Ricketts aka Jervis 2nd Viscount St Vincent [aged 27] and [his wife] Mary Cassandra Twisleton [aged 20].
In 1799 Edward Jervis Ricketts aka Jervis 2nd Viscount St Vincent [aged 31] and Mary Cassandra Twisleton [aged 24] were divorced.
On 5th October 1799 [his father] William Henry Ricketts [aged 62] died. [his brother] Captain William Henry Ricketts aka Jervis [aged 34] and Edward Jervis Ricketts aka Jervis 2nd Viscount St Vincent [aged 32] jointly inherited the estate of Mount Ricketts in Jamaica with a deferral of twenty-one years, together with the estate of Canaan on that island.

Esq; late of the Island of Jamaica, deceased, and Sister to the said John Earl of St. Vincent, and the Heirs Male of his Body lawfully begotten, and the Dignity of Viscountess St. Vincent, of Meaford, in the said County.of Stafford, to the Right Honourable [his sister] Mary Countess of Northesk [aged 32], Daughter of the said Mary Ricketts, and Widow of William Henry Ricketts aforesaid, and the Dignity of Viscount St. Vincent to the Heirs Male of her Body lawfully be gotten.
On 13th March 1823 [his uncle] John Jervis 1st Earl St Vincent [aged 88] died. Earl of St Vincent and Baron Jervis of Medsford in Staffordshire extinct. His nephew Edward [aged 55] succeeded 2nd Viscount St Vincent of Meaford in Staffordshire.
On 12th March 1828 [his mother] Mary Jervis [aged 91] died.
Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

In June 1843 [his former wife] Mary Cassandra Twisleton [aged 68] died.
In 1859 Edward Jervis Ricketts aka Jervis 2nd Viscount St Vincent [aged 91] died. His grandson Carnegie [aged 33] succeeded 3rd Viscount St Vincent of Meaford in Staffordshire.
