Samuel Pepys' Diary. 30th December 1667. After dinner, I did understand from my [his aunt] Lady Jemimah that her brother Hinchingbroke's business was to be ended this day, as she thinks, towards his match, and they do talk here of their intent to buy themselves some new clothes against the wedding, which I am very glad of.

Before 17th March 1668 [his father] Edward Montagu 2nd Earl Sandwich [aged 20] and [his mother] Mary Anne Boyle [aged 23] were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Richard Boyle 2nd Earl Cork 1st Earl Burlington [aged 55] and [his grandmother] Elizabeth Clifford Countess Burlington [aged 54]. He the son of Edward Montagu 1st Earl Sandwich [aged 42] and Jemima Crew Countess Sandwich [aged 43]. They were half fifth cousin once removed.

On 10th April 1670 Edward Montagu 3rd Earl Sandwich was born to [his father] Edward Montagu 2nd Earl Sandwich [aged 22] and [his mother] Mary Anne Boyle [aged 25] at Burlington House.

On 24th September 1671 [his mother] Mary Anne Boyle [aged 26] died.

On 29th November 1688 [his father] Edward Montagu 2nd Earl Sandwich [aged 40] died. He was buried at All Saints Church, Barnwell [Map]. His son Edward [aged 18] succeeded 3rd Earl Sandwich.

On 8th July 1689 Edward Montagu 3rd Earl Sandwich [aged 19] and Elizabeth Wilmot Countess Sandwich [aged 14] were married. She by marriage Countess Sandwich. She the daughter of John Wilmot 2nd Earl Rochester and Elizabeth Malet Countess Rochester. He the son of Edward Montagu 2nd Earl Sandwich and Mary Anne Boyle. They were fifth cousin once removed.

On 7th July 1692 [his son] Edward Montagu Viscount Hinchingbrooke was born to Edward Montagu 3rd Earl Sandwich [aged 22] and [his wife] Elizabeth Wilmot Countess Sandwich [aged 17]. He married 12th April 1707 his fourth cousin once removed Elizabeth Popham Viscountess Hinchingbrooke and had issue.

On 12th April 1707 Edward Montagu Viscount Hinchingbrooke [aged 14] and Elizabeth Popham Viscountess Hinchingbrooke [aged 14] were married at St James' Church, Piccadilly. She brought £12000. He the son of Edward Montagu 3rd Earl Sandwich [aged 37] and Elizabeth Wilmot Countess Sandwich [aged 32]. They were fourth cousin once removed.

On 3rd October 1722 [his son] Edward Montagu Viscount Hinchingbrooke [aged 30] died at Abbey House. He was buried at All Saints Church, Barnwell [Map].

Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

On 20th October 1729 Edward Montagu 3rd Earl Sandwich [aged 59] died. He was buried at All Saints Church, Barnwell [Map]. His grandson John [aged 10] succeeded 4th Earl Sandwich.

On 1st July 1757 [his former wife] Elizabeth Wilmot Countess Sandwich [aged 82] died.
