The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 19th December 1726 Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton was born to Thomas Willoughby (age 32) and Elizabeth Southby at York [Map].

Around 1742 Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton (age 15) educated at Jesus College, Cambridge University.

On 2nd December 1742 [his father] Thomas Willoughby (age 48) died.

In 1756 Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton (age 29) and Dorothy Cartright Baroness Middleton were married.

In 1757 Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton (age 30) was appointed High Sheriff of Yorkshire.

On 24th April 1761 [his son] Henry Willoughby 6th Baron Middleton was born to Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton (age 34) and [his wife] Dorothy Cartright Baroness Middleton.

On 2nd November 1781 Thomas Willoughby 4th Baron Middleton (age 52) died. His first cousin Henry (age 54) succeeded 5th Baron Middleton, 6th Baronet Willoughby of Wollaton. [his wife] Dorothy Cartright Baroness Middleton by marriage Baroness Middleton.

On 24th November 1784 [his son-in-law] Richard Langley and [his daughter] Dorothy Willoughby were married.

Before 11th March 1793 [his son] Henry Willoughby 6th Baron Middleton (age 31) and [his daughter-in-law] Jane Lawley (age 26) were married.

Before 4th August 1799. Monument to Francis Willoughby 3rd Baron Middleton, Thomas Willoughby 4th Baron Middleton, Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton (age 72) and [his wife] Dorothy Cartright Baroness Middleton in St Leonard's Church, Wollaton [Map] sculpted by John "The Elder" Bacon (age 58). The names of Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton and Dorothy Cartright Baroness Middleton were either added later, or the monument completed by the workshop of John "The Elder" Bacon after his death on 4th August 1799.

Dorothy Cartright Baroness Middleton: In 1756 Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton and she were married. On 2nd November 1781 Thomas Willoughby 4th Baron Middleton died. His first cousin Henry succeeded 5th Baron Middleton, 6th Baronet Willoughby of Wollaton. She by marriage Baroness Middleton. On 18th September 1808 she died.

On 14th June 1800 Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton (age 73) died. His son [his son] Henry (age 39) succeeded 6th Baron Middleton, 7th Baronet Willoughby of Wollaton.

On 18th September 1808 [his former wife] Dorothy Cartright Baroness Middleton died.

[his daughter] Henrietta Willoughby Viscountess Lumley was born to Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton and Dorothy Cartright Baroness Middleton.

[his father] Thomas Willoughby and [his mother] Elizabeth Southby were married.

[his daughter] Dorothy Willoughby was born to Henry Willoughby 5th Baron Middleton and Dorothy Cartright Baroness Middleton.
