In 1804 James Edward Harris 2nd (age 25) was elected MP Horsham.
On 17th June 1806 James Edward Harris 2nd (age 27) and Harriet Susan Dashwood (age 23) were married. He the son of James Harris 1st Earl Malmesbury (age 60) and Harriet Maria Amyand Countess Malmesbury (age 45).

The Deeds of the Dukes of Normandy
The Gesta Normannorum Ducum [The Deeds of the Dukes of Normandy] is a landmark medieval chronicle tracing the rise and fall of the Norman dynasty from its early roots through the pivotal events surrounding the Norman Conquest of England. Originally penned in Latin by the monk William of Jumièges shortly before 1060 and later expanded at the behest of William the Conqueror, the work chronicles the deeds, politics, battles, and leadership of the Norman dukes, especially William’s own claim to the English throne. The narrative combines earlier historical sources with firsthand information and oral testimony to present an authoritative account of Normandy’s transformation from a Viking settlement into one of medieval Europe’s most powerful realms. William’s history emphasizes the legitimacy, military prowess, and governance of the Norman line, framing their expansion, including the conquest of England, as both divinely sanctioned and noble in purpose. Later chroniclers such as Orderic Vitalis and Robert of Torigni continued the history, extending the coverage into the 12th century, providing broader context on ducal rule and its impact. Today this classic work remains a foundational source for understanding Norman identity, medieval statesmanship, and the historical forces that reshaped England and Western Europe between 800AD and 1100AD.

Harriet Susan Dashwood: In 1783 she was born to Francis Bateman Dashwood. On 17th June 1806 James Edward Harris 2nd and she were married. He the son of James Harris 1st Earl Malmesbury and Harriet Maria Amyand Countess Malmesbury.

In 1816 James Edward Harris 2nd (age 37) was elected MP Wilton.
On 21st November 1820 [his father] James Harris 1st Earl Malmesbury (age 74) died. His son James (age 42) succeeded 2nd Earl Malmesbury, 2nd Viscount Fitz-Harris of Hurn Court in Hampshire, 2nd Baron Malmesbury.
On 13th May 1830 [his son] James Harris 3rd Earl Malmesbury (age 23) and [his daughter-in-law] Corisande Emma Bennet Countess Malmesbury (age 22) were married. She by marriage Countess Malmesbury. She the daughter of Charles Augustus Bennet 5th Earl Tankerville (age 54) and Corisande Armandine Sophie Léonie Hélène Gramont Countess Tankerville (age 47). He the son of James Edward Harris 2nd Earl Malmesbury (age 51) and [his former wife] Harriet Susan Dashwood.
On 20th August 1830 [his mother] Harriet Maria Amyand Countess Malmesbury (age 69) died.
On 10th September 1841 James Edward Harris 2nd (age 63) died. His son James (age 34) succeeded 3rd Earl Malmesbury, 3rd Viscount Fitz-Harris of Hurn Court in Hampshire, 3rd Baron Malmesbury.
