Published March 2025. The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

Before 6th May 1262 [his father] Henry Hastings (age 27) and [his mother] Joan Cantilupe were married. They were fifth cousins. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry I "Beauclerc" England.

On 6th May 1262 John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings was born to Henry Hastings (age 27) and Joan Cantilupe.

Around 1269 [his father] Henry Hastings (age 34) died.

In 1271 [his mother] Joan Cantilupe died.

In 1273 John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings (age 10) succeeded 13th Baron Abergavenny Feudal Creation.

On 18th October 1273 [his uncle] George Cantilupe 12th Baron Abergavenny (age 21) died. His nephew John (age 11) succeeded 13th Baron Abergavenny Feudal Creation.

Before 1282 John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings (age 19) and Isabel Valence Baroness Bergavenny Baroness Hastings were married. She by marriage Baroness Abergavenny Feudal Creation. She the daughter of William de Valence 1st Earl Pembroke and Joan Munchensi Countess Pembroke (age 51). They were sixth cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Henry I "Beauclerc" England.

In 1282 [his son] William Hastings was born to John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings (age 19) and [his wife] Isabel Valence Baroness Bergavenny Baroness Hastings.

On 29th September 1286 [his son] John Hastings 2nd Baron Hastings 14th Baron Abergavenny was born to John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings (age 24) and [his wife] Isabel Valence Baroness Bergavenny Baroness Hastings at Abergavenny, Monmouthshire [Map].

Before 1295 [his brother-in-law] Aymer de Valence 2nd Earl Pembroke (age 19) and Béatrix de Clermont were married. He the son of [his father-in-law] William de Valence 1st Earl Pembroke and [his mother-in-law] Joan Munchensi Countess Pembroke (age 64). They were fourth cousin once removed. On 24th June 1295 King Edward I of England (age 56) created new baronies through writs for summons to his 36th Parliament

In 1310 [his son] Hugh Hastings was born to John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings (age 47) and [his wife] Isabel Despencer Baroness Hastings and Bergavenny at Sutton Scotney, Hampshire [Map].

In 1311 [his son] William Hastings (age 29) died.

Around 1313 Ralph Monthermer 1st Earl of Gloucester and Hertford (age 43) and [his wife] Isabel Despencer Baroness Hastings and Bergavenny were married. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Hugh "Elder" Despencer 1st Earl Winchester (age 51) and Isabella Beauchamp.

On 28th February 1313 John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings (age 50) died. His son [his son] John (age 26) succeeded 2nd Baron Hastings, 14th Baron Abergavenny Feudal Creation.

In 1334 [his former wife] Isabel Despencer Baroness Hastings and Bergavenny died.

Christmas Court

On 30th December 1389 John Hastings 3rd Earl Pembroke (age 17) was killed in a tournament during the Christmas Court at Woodstock Palace, Oxfordshire [Map]. He was struck in the groin by the lance of Sir John Des. Earl Pembroke and Baron Manny extinct.

His claim was contested by [his great grandson] Reginald Grey 3rd Baron Grey Ruthyn (age 27) who was the son of [his daughter] Elizabeth Hastings Baroness Grey Ruthyn daughter of John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings his case being that he was of the full blood whereas John Hastings 6th Baron Hastings was of the half-blood ie Reginald Grey 3rd Baron Grey Ruthyn, like John Hastings 3rd Earl Pembroke, was descended from John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings and [his former wife] Isabel Valence Baroness Bergavenny Baroness Hastings, whereas John Hastings 6th Baron Hastings was descended from John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings and [his former wife] Isabel Despencer Baroness Hastings and Bergavenny.

[his son] Margaret Hastings was born to John Hastings 13th Baron Abergavenny 1st Baron Hastings and Isabel Despencer Baroness Hastings and Bergavenny.
