Paternal Family Tree: Pitt
On 16th November 1754 [his father] William "The Elder" Pitt 1st Earl Chatham (age 46) and [his mother] Hester Granville Countess Chatham (age 34) were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Richard Granville.
On 9th October 1756 John Pitt 2nd Earl Chatham was born to William "The Elder" Pitt 1st Earl Chatham (age 47) and Hester Granville Countess Chatham (age 35).
On 11th May 1778 [his father] William "The Elder" Pitt 1st Earl Chatham (age 69) died. His son John (age 21) succeeded 2nd Earl Chatham. He was initally bured at Hayes. After an address by the Commons to the king praying that the deceased statesman might be buried with the honours of a public funeral a sum was voted for a public monument which was erected over a new grave in Westminster Abbey. The monument, by the sculptor John Bacon, has a figure of Pitt above statues of Britannia and Neptune with figures representing Prudence, Fortitude, the Earth and also a sea creature. On 10th July 1783 John Pitt 2nd Earl Chatham (age 26) and Mary Elizabeth Townshend Countess Chatham were married. She by marriage Countess Chatham. He the son of William "The Elder" Pitt 1st Earl Chatham and Hester Granville Countess Chatham (age 62). They were half fifth cousin once removed.
In 1790 King George III of Great Britain and Ireland (age 51) created new Garter Knights as follows:
611th Duke Ernest of Saxe Coburg Altenburg (age 44),
612th Francis Osborne 5th Duke Leeds (age 38),
613th John Pitt 2nd Earl Chatham (age 33).
On 24th May 1795 Charles Scott 4th Duke Buccleuch 6th Duke Queensberry (age 23) and [his sister-in-law] Harriet Katherine Townshend Duchess Buccleuch Duchess Queensbury (age 21) were married. He the son of Henry Scott 3rd Duke Buccleuch (age 48) and Elizabeth Montagu Duchess Buccleuch (age 51). They were second cousins. He a great x 4 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 9th April 1803 [his mother] Hester Granville Countess Chatham (age 82) died. Her son John (age 46) succeeded 2nd Baron Chatham of Chatham in Kent.
On 11th January 1812 Henry Scott 3rd Duke Buccleuch (age 65) died. His son Charles (age 39) succeeded 4th Duke Buccleuch, 6th Duke Queensberry, 4th Earl Doncaster, 4th Baron Scott of Tynedale. [his sister-in-law] Harriet Katherine Townshend Duchess Buccleuch Duchess Queensbury (age 38) by marriage Duchess Buccleuch.
On 24th August 1814 [his sister-in-law] Harriet Katherine Townshend Duchess Buccleuch Duchess Queensbury (age 40) died.
On 21st May 1821 [his wife] Mary Elizabeth Townshend Countess Chatham died.
On 24th September 1835 John Pitt 2nd Earl Chatham (age 78) died. Earl Chatham, Baron Chatham of Chatham in Kent extinct.
