The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 8th July 1776 [his father] Christopher Willoughby 1st Baronet (age 27) and Juliana Burvill (age 21) were married.

On 29th January 1789 [his father] Christopher Willoughby 1st Baronet (age 40) and [his mother] Martha Evans Lady Willoughby (age 21) were married.

On 21st April 1799 John Pollard Willoughby 4th Baronet was born to Christopher Willoughby 1st Baronet (age 50) and Martha Evans Lady Willoughby (age 31).

On 5th February 1806 [his father] Christopher Willoughby 1st Baronet (age 57) died. His son [his brother] Christopher (age 13) succeeded 2nd Baronet Willoughby of Baldon House in Oxfordshire.

Around 1830 [his daughter] Mary Sophia Willoughby was born to John Pollard Willoughby 4th Baronet (age 30).

On 3rd May 1831 John Pollard Willoughby 4th Baronet (age 32) was elected MP Yarmouth Isle of Wight which seat he held until 1832.

On 12th December 1832 John Pollard Willoughby 4th Baronet (age 33) was elected MP Newcastle under Lyme which seat he held until 5th January 1835.

On 3rd September 1846 [his son-in-law] Arthur Rivers Malet (age 39) and [his daughter] Mary Sophia Willoughby (age 16) were married. The difference in their ages was 23 years.

On 29th July 1847 John Pollard Willoughby 4th Baronet (age 48) was elected MP Evesham which seat he held until 7th July 1852.

In 1848 [his mother] Martha Evans Lady Willoughby (age 80) died.

Around 1853 [his daughter] Mary Sophia Willoughby (age 23) died.

On 20th February 1859 [his son] John Christopher Willoughby 5th Baronet was born to John Pollard Willoughby 4th Baronet (age 59).

On 23rd March 1865 [his brother] Henry Pollard Willoughby 3rd Baronet (age 68) died unmarried. His brother John (age 65) succeeded 4th Baronet Willoughby of Baldon House in Oxfordshire.
