Biography of John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham 1792-1840

In 1791 [his father] William Henry Lambton (age 27) and [his mother] Anne Barbara Frances Villiers (age 19) were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey (age 55) and [his grandmother] Frances Twysden (age 37).

On 12th April 1792 John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham was born to William Henry Lambton (age 28) and Anne Barbara Frances Villiers (age 20) at 14 Berkeley Square, Mayfair.

On 30th November 1797 [his father] William Henry Lambton (age 33) died of consumption. He was buried at Old English Cemetery.

In 1801 [his step-father] Charles William Wyndham (age 40) and [his mother] Anne Barbara Frances Villiers (age 29) were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey (age 65) and [his grandmother] Frances Twysden (age 47). He the son of Charles Wyndham 2nd Earl Egremont and Alicia Carpenter Countess Egremont. They were fifth cousins.

On 1st January 1812 John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 19) and Harriet Cholmondeley (age 22) were married at Gretna Green. She the illegitmate daughter of George Cholmondeley 1st Marquess Cholmondeley (age 62) and Unamed Saint Albin.

On 16th October 1812 [his daughter] Frances Charlotte Lambton was born to John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 20) and [his wife] Harriet Cholmondeley (age 22).

On 20th October 1812 [his brother-in-law] George Cholmondeley 2nd Marquess Cholmondeley (age 20) and Caroline Anne Julie Campbell were married at Gibraltar. He the son of [his father-in-law] George Cholmondeley 1st Marquess Cholmondeley (age 63) and Georgina Charlotte Bertie Marchioness Cholmondeley (age 51).

On 2nd March 1814 [his daughter] Georgiana Sarah Elizabeth Lambton was born to John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 21) and [his wife] Harriet Cholmondeley (age 24).

On 30th May 1815 [his daughter] Harriet Caroline Lambton was born to John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 23) and [his wife] Harriet Cholmondeley (age 25).

On 11th July 1815 [his wife] Harriet Cholmondeley (age 25) died.

On 9th December 1816 John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 24) and Louisa Elizabeth Grey Countess Durham (age 19) were married at Howick Hall, Northumberland [Map]. She the daughter of Charles Grey 2nd Earl Grey (age 52) and Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby Countess Grey (age 40).

On 16th January 1818 [his son] Charles William Lambton was born to John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 25) and [his wife] Louisa Elizabeth Grey Countess Durham (age 20).

On 8th May 1819 [his daughter] Mary Louisa Lambton Countess Kincardine and Elgin was born to John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 27) and [his wife] Louisa Elizabeth Grey Countess Durham (age 22).

On 17th May 1823 [his daughter] Emily Augusta Lambton was born to John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 31) and [his wife] Louisa Elizabeth Grey Countess Durham (age 26).

On 5th September 1828 [his son] George Frederick D'Arcy Lambton 2nd Earl Durham was born to John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 36) and [his wife] Louisa Elizabeth Grey Countess Durham (age 31) at Copse Hill Wimbledon, Surrey.

On 16th April 1831 [his daughter] Alice Anne Lambton Countess Morton was born to John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 39) and [his wife] Louisa Elizabeth Grey Countess Durham (age 34).

On 24th September 1831 [his son] Charles William Lambton (age 13) died.

In 1832 [his mother] Anne Barbara Frances Villiers (age 60) died.

On 12th June 1832 [his daughter] Harriet Caroline Lambton (age 17) died.

On 9th August 1832 [his brother-in-law] Henry George Grey 3rd Earl Grey (age 29) and Maria Copley 3rd Countess Grey (age 33) were married. She the daughter of Joseph Copley 3rd Baronet (age 63) and Cecil Hamilton Marchioness Abercorn. He the son of [his father-in-law] Charles Grey 2nd Earl Grey (age 68) and [his mother-in-law] Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby Countess Grey (age 56).

In 1833 John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 40) was created 1st Earl Durham. [his wife] Louisa Elizabeth Grey Countess Durham (age 35) by marriage Countess Durham.

On 3rd January 1833 [his daughter] Georgiana Sarah Elizabeth Lambton (age 18) died.

On 8th September 1835 [his son-in-law] John George Brabazon Ponsonby 5th Earl Bessborough (age 25) and [his daughter] Frances Charlotte Lambton (age 22) were married. She the daughter of John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 43) and [his former wife] Harriet Cholmondeley. He the son of John Ponsonby 4th Earl Bessborough (age 54) and Maria Fane. They were fifth cousins.

On 18th December 1835 [his daughter] Frances Charlotte Lambton (age 23) died of consumption.

On 28th July 1840 John "Radical Jack" Lambton 1st Earl Durham (age 48) died at Cowes, Isle of Wight. He was buried at St Mary and St Cuthbert Church, Chester-le-Street. His son [his son] George (age 11) succeeded 2nd Earl Durham.

On 26th November 1841 [his former wife] Louisa Elizabeth Grey Countess Durham (age 44) died.
