Biography of Mary Booth Countess Stamford 1704-1772

In 1702 [her father] George Booth 2nd Earl Warrington (age 26) and [her mother] Mary Oldbury Countess Warrington (age 20) were married. She by marriage Countess Warrington. He the son of [her grandfather] Henry Booth 1st Earl Warrington and [her grandmother] Mary Langham Countess Warrington.

In 1704 Mary Booth Countess Stamford was born to George Booth 2nd Earl Warrington (age 28) and Mary Oldbury Countess Warrington (age 22).

Henry Robartes 3rd Earl Radnor: In 1695 he was born to Russell Robartes and Mary Booth. In 1723 Charles Robartes 2nd Earl Radnor died. His nephew Henry succeeded 3rd Earl Radnor, 3rd Viscount Bodmin, 4th Baron Robartes of Truro in Cornwall, 4th Baronet Robartes. On 1st February 1741 Henry Robartes 3rd Earl Radnor died unmarried in Paris John succeeded 4th Earl Radnor4th Viscount Bodmin, 5th Baron Robartes of Truro in Cornwall, 5th Baronet Robartes.

In 1736 Henry Grey 4th Earl Stamford (age 20) and Mary Booth Countess Stamford (age 32) were married. She the daughter of George Booth 2nd Earl Warrington (age 60) and Mary Oldbury Countess Warrington (age 54). He the son of Henry Grey 3rd Earl Stamford (age 50) and Dorothy Wright Countess Stamford (age 51). They were second cousin once removed.

On 1st October 1737 [her son] George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington was born to [her husband] Henry Grey 4th Earl Stamford (age 22) and Mary Booth Countess Stamford (age 33).

On 16th November 1739 [her father-in-law] Henry Grey 3rd Earl Stamford (age 54) died. On 16th November 1739 His son [her husband] Henry (age 24) succeeded 4th Earl Stamford, 5th Baron Grey of Groby. Mary Booth Countess Stamford (age 35) by marriage Countess Stamford.

On 3rd April 1740 [her mother] Mary Oldbury Countess Warrington (age 58) died at Dunham Massey, Cheshire [Map].

On 15th August 1740 [her son] Booth Grey was born to [her husband] Henry Grey 4th Earl Stamford (age 25) and Mary Booth Countess Stamford (age 36).

In 1743 [her son] John Grey was born to [her husband] Henry Grey 4th Earl Stamford (age 27) and Mary Booth Countess Stamford (age 39).

On 2nd August 1758 [her father] George Booth 2nd Earl Warrington (age 83) died. Earl Warrington extinct. His first cousin Nathaniel (age 49) succeeded 4th Baron Delamer, 5th Baronet Booth of Dunham Massey.

On 28th May 1763 [her son] George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington (age 25) and [her daughter-in-law] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington (age 26) were married. She by marriage Countess Stamford. She the daughter of William Bentinck 2nd Duke Portland and Margaret Cavendish Harley 2nd Duchess Portland (age 48). He the son of [her husband] Henry Grey 4th Earl Stamford (age 47) and Mary Booth Countess Stamford (age 59).

On 30th May 1768 [her husband] Henry Grey 4th Earl Stamford (age 52) died at Enville Hall, Staffordshire. On 30th May 1768 His son [her son] George (age 30) succeeded 5th Earl Stamford, 6th Baron Grey of Groby.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.
