Biography of Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor 1837-1911

Paternal Family Tree: Curzon

On 14th July 1825 [her father] Alfred Curzon (age 24) and [her mother] Sophia Holden were married.

On 14th December 1837 Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor was born to Alfred Curzon (age 36) and Sophia Holden.

On 12th January 1850 [her father] Alfred Curzon (age 48) died.

The Queen, taKing into the royal consideration that, upon the death of [her uncle] Nathaniel, Baron Scarsdale, of Scarsdale, in the county of Derby, unmarried, in the month of November last, the dignity of Baron Scarsdale devolved upon Alfred-Nathaniel-Holden, now Baron Scarsdale, as eldest son and heir of Alfred Curzon, Clerk, commonly called the Honourable Alfred Curzon, younger brother of the said Nathaniel, Baron Scarsdale, whereby, according to the ordinary rules of honour, the sisters of the said Alfred-Nathaniel-Holden, Baron Scarsdale, cannot enjoy that place and precedence which would have been due to them had their late father survived the said Nathaniel, Baron Scarsdale, and had thereby succeeded to the title and dignity of Baron Scarsdale, Her Majesty hath been graciously pleased to ordain and declare that [her sister] Sophia-Felicite (age 22), wife of William-Hatfield de Rodes, of Barlborough Hall, in the county of Derby, Esq., High Sheriff of the said county, and Mary Catherine Curzon (age 19), Spinster, shall henceforth have, hold and enjoy the same title, place, pre-eminence and precedence as if their late father, the said Honourable Alfred Curzon, had survived his brother, the said Nathaniel, Baron Scarsdale, and had, thereby, succeeded to the title and dignity of Baron Scarsdale:

And Her Majesty has been further pleased to command that the said royal order and declaration be registered in the College of Arms

On 15th April 1858 Arthur Edwin Hill aka Hill-Trevor 1st Baron Trevor (age 38) and Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor (age 20) were married. He the son of Arthur Blundell Sandys Trumbull Hill 3rd Marquess Downshire and Maria Windsor Marchioness Downshire.

On 30th March 1861 [her daughter] Edith Maria Hill-Trevor was born to [her husband] Arthur Edwin Hill aka Hill-Trevor 1st Baron Trevor (age 41) and Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor (age 23).

On 22nd November 1862 [her daughter] Nina Emily Hill-Trevor was born to [her husband] Arthur Edwin Hill aka Hill-Trevor 1st Baron Trevor (age 43) and Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor (age 24).

On 22nd December 1863 [her son] Charles Edward Hill-Trevor 3rd Baron Trevor was born to [her husband] Arthur Edwin Hill aka Hill-Trevor 1st Baron Trevor (age 44) and Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor (age 26).

All About History Books

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 6th August 1868 [her brother-in-law] Arthur Hill 4th Marquess Downshire (age 56) died. His son Arthur (age 23) succeeded 5th Marquess Downshire.

On 23rd January 1869 [her son] Lieutenant Neville Windsor Hill-Trevor was born to [her husband] Arthur Edwin Hill aka Hill-Trevor 1st Baron Trevor (age 49) and Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor (age 31).

On 1st February 1870 [her step-daughter] Gertrude Mary Hill-Trevor (age 19) died.

On 18th September 1870 [her son] Leila Sophia Hill-Trevor was born to [her husband] Arthur Edwin Hill aka Hill-Trevor 1st Baron Trevor (age 50) and Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor (age 32).

The Queen (age 60) has been pleased to direct Letters Patent to be passed under the Great Seal granting the dignity of a Baron of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland unto the undermentioned persons, and the heirs male of their respective bodies lawfully begotten; namely:

Charles Frederick Abney-Hastings (age 57), of Donington Park, in the county of Leicester, Esq., by the name, style, and title of Baron Donington, of Donington Park, in the said county of Leicester.

[her husband] Arthur Edwin Hill Trevor (age 60), Esq. (commonly called Lord Arthur Edwin Hill Trevor), by the name, style and title of Baron Trevor, of Brynkinalt, in the county of Denbigh. [Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor (age 42) by marriage Baroness Trevor of Brynkinalt in Denbighshire].

Montagu William Lowry-Corry (age 41), Esq., C.B., by the name, style, and title of Baron Rowton, of Rowton Castle, in the county of Salop.

On 9th February 1890 [her mother] Sophia Holden died.

On 30th August 1893 [her step-son] Arthur William Hill-Trevor 2nd Baron Trevor (age 40) and Annie Mary Eleanor Fraser (age 36) were married.

After 1894. St Mary's Churchyard, Chirk. Grave of [her husband] Arthur Edwin Hill aka Hill-Trevor 1st Baron Trevor (age 74) and Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor (age 56).

On 26th July 1894 [her daughter] Nina Emily Hill-Trevor (age 31) died.

On 25th December 1894 [her husband] Arthur Edwin Hill aka Hill-Trevor 1st Baron Trevor (age 75) died. His son [her step-son] Arthur (age 42) succeeded 2nd Baron Trevor of Brynkinalt in Denbighshire.

Battle of Spion Kop

On 24th January 1900 [her son] Lieutenant Neville Windsor Hill-Trevor (age 31) was killed in action at the battle of Battle of Spion Kop serving with the 2nd Life Guards of Thornycroft's Mounted Infantry.

Charles Edwin Hlll Trevor 4th Baron Trevor: On 13th August 1928 he was born to Charles Edward Hill-Trevor 3rd Baron Trevor. On 22nd December 1950 Charles Edward Hill-Trevor 3rd Baron Trevor died. His son Charles succeeded 4th Baron Trevor of Brynkinalt in Denbighshire. On 1st January 1997 Charles Edwin Hlll Trevor 4th Baron Trevor died. His son Marke succeeded 5th Baron Trevor of Brynkinalt in Denbighshire.

Nevill Edwin Hill-Trevor: In 1931 he was born to Charles Edward Hill-Trevor 3rd Baron Trevor. In 2002 Nevill Edwin Hill-Trevor died.

On 20th August 1911 Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor (age 73) died.

[her son] George Edwyn Hill-Trevor was born to Arthur Edwin Hill aka Hill-Trevor 1st Baron Trevor and Mary Catherine Curzon Baroness Trevor.
