The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

On 15th February 1598 [his father] Francis Fane 1st Earl of Westmoreland (age 18) and [his mother] Mary Mildmay Countess of Westmoreland (age 16) were married.

On 24th January 1602 Mildmay Fane 2nd Earl of Westmoreland was born to Francis Fane 1st Earl of Westmoreland (age 21) and Mary Mildmay Countess of Westmoreland (age 20).

English Coronation of Charles I

On 2nd February 1626 King Charles I of England, Scotland and Ireland (age 25) was crowned I King England Scotland and Ireland at Westminster Abbey [Map] by Archbishop George Abbott (age 63). His wife Henrietta Maria (age 16) was not crowned since she being Catholic refused to attend an Anglican service. She watched Charles at a discreet distance.

Robert Radclyffe 5th Earl of Sussex (age 52) carried the Orb.

Francis Talbot 11th Earl of Shrewsbury (age 3) bore the Second Sword of State.

Philip Herbert 4th Earl Pembroke 1st Earl Montgomery (age 41) carried the Spurs.

Francis Manners 6th Earl of Rutland (age 48) bore the Rod with the Dove.

William Cavendish 3rd Earl Devonshire (age 8), James Stanley 7th Earl of Derby (age 19), James Howard 3rd Earl Suffolk (age 6), Roger Palmer (age 49) and Mildmay Fane 2nd Earl of Westmoreland (age 24), John Maynard (age 34) were appointed Knight of the Bath.

On 6th July 1626 Mildmay Fane 2nd Earl of Westmoreland (age 24) and Grace Thornhurst Countess of Westmoreland (age 22) were married. He the son of Francis Fane 1st Earl of Westmoreland (age 46) and Mary Mildmay Countess of Westmoreland (age 44). They were fourth cousins.

Before 1628 Roger Townshend 1st Baronet (age 31) and [his future wife] Mary Vere Countess of Westmoreland (age 19) were married. She by marriage Lady Townshend.

On 23rd March 1629 [his father] Francis Fane 1st Earl of Westmoreland (age 49) died. His son Mildmay (age 27) succeeded 2nd Earl of Westmoreland, 5th Baron Despencer, 2nd Baron Burghesh in Suffolk. [his wife] Grace Thornhurst Countess of Westmoreland (age 25) by marriage Countess of Westmoreland.

[his brother] Francis Fane (age 18) inherited Fulbeck Hall. The Hall was confiscated from him during the Commonwealth; he bought it back.

On 6th January 1635 [his son] Charles Fane 3rd Earl of Westmoreland was born to Mildmay Fane 2nd Earl of Westmoreland (age 32) and [his wife] Grace Thornhurst Countess of Westmoreland (age 31).

On 29th June 1636 [his wife] Grace Thornhurst Countess of Westmoreland (age 32) died.

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." In 1639 [his daughter] Mary Fane Countess Exeter was born to Mildmay Fane 2nd Earl of Westmoreland (age 36) and [his wife] Mary Vere Countess of Westmoreland (age 31).

On 9th April 1640 [his mother] Mary Mildmay Countess of Westmoreland (age 58) died.

On 13th February 1645 [his son] Vere Fane 4th Earl of Westmoreland was born to Mildmay Fane 2nd Earl of Westmoreland (age 43) and [his wife] Mary Vere Countess of Westmoreland (age 37) at Lamport Hall, Buckinghamshire.

In 1656 Mildmay Fane 2nd Earl of Westmoreland (age 53) lived at 13 14 Great Piazza Covent Garden.

On 12th February 1666 Mildmay Fane 2nd Earl of Westmoreland (age 64) died. His son [his son] Charles (age 31) succeeded 3rd Earl of Westmoreland, 6th Baron Despencer, 3rd Baron Burghesh in Suffolk.

In 1669 [his former wife] Mary Vere Countess of Westmoreland (age 61) died.
