On 10th September 1853 [her father] Henry Gerard Sturt 1st Baron Alington (age 28) and [her mother] Augusta Bingham Baroness Alington (age 21) were married. She the daughter of [her grandfather] George Charles Bingham 3rd Earl Lucan (age 53) and [her grandmother] Anne Brudenell Countess Lucan (age 44). They were first cousins.

In 1869 Mildred Cecilia Sturt Lady Montagu was born to Henry Gerard Sturt 1st Baron Alington (age 43) and Augusta Bingham Baroness Alington (age 36). Coefficient of inbreeding 6.25%.

On 3rd July 1888 [her mother] Augusta Bingham Baroness Alington (age 56) died.

On 30th April 1892 Henry Arthur Cadogan (age 23) and Mildred Cecilia Sturt Lady Montagu (age 23) were married at The Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity with Saint Jude, Sloane Street. He the son of George Cadogan 5th Earl Cadogan (age 51) and Beatrix Jane Craven Countess Cadogan (age 47).

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. In 1901 [her daughter] Victoria Laura Cadogan was born to [her husband] Henry Arthur Cadogan (age 32) and Mildred Cecilia Sturt Lady Montagu (age 32).

In 1903 [her son] Edward George John Humphrey Cadogan was born to [her husband] Henry Arthur Cadogan (age 34) and Mildred Cecilia Sturt Lady Montagu (age 34).

On 17th February 1904 [her father] Henry Gerard Sturt 1st Baron Alington (age 78) died. His son [her brother] Humphrey (age 44) succeeded 2nd Baron Alington. Feodorowna Yorke Baroness Alington (age 40) by marriage Baroness Alington.

On 13th June 1905 [her daughter] Victoria Laura Cadogan (age 4) died.

On 2nd July 1908 [her husband] Henry Arthur Cadogan (age 40) died of cancer at Temple House, Theobalds Park.

In 1910 [her son] Edward George John Humphrey Cadogan (age 7) died.

On 18th April 1910 Hedworth Lambton aka Meux (age 53) and Mildred Cecilia Sturt Lady Montagu (age 41) were married. He the son of George Frederick D'Arcy Lambton 2nd Earl Durham and Beatrix Frances Hamilton Countess Durham. They were fifth cousin once removed. He a great x 5 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

In 1916 [her son-in-law] Arthur Robert Mills 3rd Baron Hillingdon (age 24) and [her daughter] Edith Mary Cadogan Baroness Hillingdon (age 21) were married. They were half fifth cousins.

He the son of Edward George Villiers Stanley 17th Earl of Derby (age 51) and [her future sister-in-law] Alice Maude Olivia Montagu Countess Derby (age 54). They were third cousins.

On 2nd October 1917 [her son-in-law] Humphrey Edmund de Trafford 4th Baronet (age 25) and [her daughter] Cynthia Hilda Evelyn Cadogan (age 21) were married.

On 18th September 1928 [her brother-in-law] John George Lambton 3rd Earl Durham (age 73) died. His brother [her brother-in-law] Frederick (age 73) succeeded 4th Earl Durham; he died four months later. Beatrix Bulteel Countess Durham (age 69) by marriage Countess Durham.

On 31st January 1929 [her brother-in-law] Frederick Lambton 4th Earl Durham (age 73) died having held the Earldom for only four months. His son John (age 44) succeeded 5th Earl Durham.

On 20th September 1929 [her husband] Hedworth Lambton aka Meux (age 73) died. The waelth he inherited from Valerie Langdon Lady Meux was inherited by his five step-daughters, children of his wife Mildred Cecilia Sturt Lady Montagu (age 60): [her daughter] Sibyl Louise Beatrix Cadogan (age 36), [her daughter] Edith Mary Cadogan Baroness Hillingdon (age 34), [her daughter] Cynthia Hilda Evelyn Cadogan (age 33), [her daughter] Alexandra Mary Cadogan Duchess of Marlborough (age 29) and [her daughter] Victoria Laura Cadogan.

On 4th December 1930 Charles William Augustus Montagu (age 70) and Mildred Cecilia Sturt Lady Montagu (age 61) were married. He the son of William Drogo Montagu 7th Duke Manchester and Louisa Vonalten Duchess Devonshire and Manchester. They were sixth cousins.

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed."
