Paternal Family Tree: Leke
On 6th December 1680 [his father] Richard Leke (age 25) and [his mother] Mary Molyneux (age 18) were married. He the son of [his grandfather] Nicholas Leke 2nd Earl Scarsdale (age 68) and [his grandmother] Frances Rich Countess Scarsdale. They were fifth cousin once removed.
In 1682 Nicholas Leke 4th Earl Scarsdale was born to Richard Leke (age 26) and Mary Molyneux (age 20).
On 16th April 1687 [his father] Richard Leke (age 32) died.
In 1699 Nicholas Leke 4th Earl Scarsdale (age 17) admitted at St John's College, Cambridge University [Map].
On 27th December 1707 [his uncle] Robert Leke 3rd Earl Scarsdale (age 53) died without surviving issue. His nephew Nicholas (age 25) succeeded 4th Earl Scarsdale, 4th Baron Deincourt of Sutton, 4th Baronet Leke of Sutton in Derbyshire.
In 1711 Nicholas Leke 4th Earl Scarsdale (age 29) was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire.
In 1724 Nicholas Leke 4th Earl Scarsdale (age 42) commissioned Warwick based architect Francis Smith (1672-1738) to re-build Sutton Scarsdale Hall, Derbyshire [Map]. He encased a much older house to create one of the most handsome buildings of the period in England. The facade is decorated with four giant classical Corinthian columns, topped by a pediment, either side of which are a series of pilasters (flat columns) reaching almost to the full height of the building, similar in style to nearby Chatsworth House, Derbyshire [Map].
On 16th April 1736 Nicholas Leke 4th Earl Scarsdale (age 54) died. Earl Scarsdale, Baron Deincourt of Sutton and Baronet Leke of Sutton in Derbyshire extinct.
