Biography of Roger Fitzmiles 2nd Earl Hereford 1124-1155

Around May 1121 [his father] Miles Gloucester 1st Earl Hereford and [his mother] Sibyl Neufmarché Countess Hereford (age 21) were married. The marriage had been personally arranged by King Henry I "Beauclerc" England (age 53).

Before 1125 Roger Fitzmiles 2nd Earl Hereford was born to Miles Gloucester 1st Earl Hereford and Sibyl Neufmarché Countess Hereford (age 24).

In 1136 Roger Fitzmiles 2nd Earl Hereford (age 11) and Cecilia Fitzjohn Countess Hereford (age 16) were married. He the son of Miles Gloucester 1st Earl Hereford and Sibyl Neufmarché Countess Hereford (age 36).

In 1137 William de Wycombe prior of Llanthony Priory [Map] in its new premises at Gloucester. Allegedly displeased over his strict discipline, the canons deposed him in 1147, but their action was almost certainly due to pressure from their lay patron Roger Fitzmiles 2nd Earl Hereford (age 12).

After 24th December 1143 [his mother] Sibyl Neufmarché Countess Hereford (deceased) died at Llanthony Secunda Priory, Gloucestershire [Map] where she had resided since her husband's death. She was buried in Llanthony Secunda Priory, Gloucestershire [Map].

Around May 1144 Roger Fitzmiles 2nd Earl Hereford (age 19) and Empress Matilda (age 42) were in Devizes, Wiltshire.

In 1151 Roger Fitzmiles 2nd Earl Hereford (age 26) founded the Cistercia Flaxby Abbey [Map] on the spot where his father [his father] Miles Gloucester 1st Earl Hereford had been accidentally kiled whilst hunting. The Monks came from Bordesley Abbey, Worcestershire [Map].

In 1151 Roger Fitzmiles 2nd Earl Hereford (age 26) founded Flaxley Abbey [Map] believed to be at the location where his father [his father] Miles Gloucester 1st Earl Hereford died.

In July 1155 Roger Fitzmiles 2nd Earl Hereford (age 30) and King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England (age 22) were in Bridgnorth, Shropshire [Map].

In August 1155 Roger Fitzmiles 2nd Earl Hereford (age 30) and King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England (age 22) were in Salisbury.

Around November 1155 Roger Fitzmiles 2nd Earl Hereford (age 30) died. He was buried in Llanthony Secunda Priory, Gloucestershire [Map]. Earl Hereford extinct. His brother [his brother] Walter succeeded Baron Abergavenny Feudal Creation and High Sheriff of Gloucester.

In 1204 [his former wife] Cecilia Fitzjohn Countess Hereford (age 84) died.
