Biography of Rosamund Catherine Petre Countess Bantry 1857-1942

Paternal Family Tree: Petre

On 25th August 1857 Rosamund Catherine Petre Countess Bantry was born to [her father] Edmund George Petre (age 28).

On 15th January 1884 William Henry Hare Hedges-White 3rd Earl Bantry (age 82) died. His son [her future husband] William (age 30) succeeded 4th Earl Bantry.

On 18th February 1886 William Henry Hare Hedges-White 4th Earl Bantry (age 32) and Rosamund Catherine Petre Countess Bantry (age 28) were married. She by marriage Countess Bantry. He the son of William Henry Hare Hedges-White 3rd Earl Bantry.

On 1st September 1889 [her father] Edmund George Petre (age 60) died.

In 1891 [her husband] William Henry Hare Hedges-White 4th Earl Bantry (age 37) died without issue. Earl Bantry extinct.

On 30th August 1893 [her future husband] Arthur William Hill-Trevor 2nd Baron Trevor (age 40) and Annie Mary Eleanor Fraser (age 36) were married.

On 25th December 1894 Arthur Edwin Hill aka Hill-Trevor 1st Baron Trevor (age 75) died. His son [her future husband] Arthur (age 42) succeeded 2nd Baron Trevor of Brynkinalt in Denbighshire.

Abbot John Whethamstede’s Chronicle of the Abbey of St Albans

Abbot John Whethamstede's Register aka Chronicle of his second term at the Abbey of St Albans, 1451-1461, is a remarkable text that describes his first-hand experience of the beginning of the Wars of the Roses including the First and Second Battles of St Albans, 1455 and 1461, respectively, their cause, and their consequences, not least on the Abbey itself. His text also includes Loveday, Blore Heath, Northampton, the Act of Accord, Wakefield, and Towton, and ends with the Coronation of King Edward IV. In addition to the events of the Wars of the Roses, Abbot John, or his scribes who wrote the Chronicle, include details in the life of the Abbey such as charters, letters, land exchanges, visits by legates, and disputes, which provide a rich insight into the day-to-day life of the Abbey, and the challenges faced by its Abbot.

On 7th December 1897 Arthur William Hill-Trevor 2nd Baron Trevor (age 45) and Rosamund Catherine Petre Countess Bantry (age 40) were married.

In 1899 [her daughter] Mary Rosamund "Moyra" Hill-Trevor was born to [her husband] Arthur William Hill-Trevor 2nd Baron Trevor (age 46) and Rosamund Catherine Petre Countess Bantry (age 41). She died aged five in 1904.

In 1904 [her daughter] Mary Rosamund "Moyra" Hill-Trevor (age 5) died.

1906. The Trevor Mausloem, St Mary's Church, Chirk [Map] was erected to mark the loss of [her daughter] Mary Rosamund "Moyra" Hill-Trevor daughter of [her husband] Arthur William Hill-Trevor 2nd Baron Trevor (age 53) and Rosamund Catherine Petre Countess Bantry (age 48) aged five years.

Mary Rosamund "Moyra" Hill-Trevor: In 1899 she was born to Arthur William Hill-Trevor 2nd Baron Trevor and Rosamund Catherine Petre Countess Bantry. In 1904 Mary Rosamund "Moyra" Hill-Trevor died.

After 1923. St Mary's Church, Chirk [Map]. Memorial to [her husband] Arthur William Hill-Trevor 2nd Baron Trevor (age 70) commissioned by his wife Rosamund Catherine Petre Countess Bantry (age 65).

On 19th May 1923 [her husband] Arthur William Hill-Trevor 2nd Baron Trevor (age 70) died. His half brother [her brother-in-law] Charles (age 59) succeeded 3rd Baron Trevor of Brynkinalt in Denbighshire.

On 5th February 1942 Rosamund Catherine Petre Countess Bantry (age 84) died.
