Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough
A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

On 11th December 1808 Thomas Henry Foley 4th Baron Foley was born to [his father] Thomas Foley 3rd Baron Foley [aged 27] and [his mother] Cecilia Olivia Geraldine Fitzgerald Baroness Foley [aged 22]. He a great x 4 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 16th April 1833 [his father] Thomas Foley 3rd Baron Foley [aged 52] died. He was buried at Saint Michael and All Angels Church, Great Witley [Map]. His son Thomas [aged 24] succeeded 4th Baron Foley of Kidderminster in Worcestershire.
On 16th July 1849 Thomas Henry Foley 4th Baron Foley [aged 40] and Mary Charlotte Fitzalan Baroness Foley [aged 27] were married. She by marriage Baroness Foley of Kidderminster in Worcestershire. She the daughter of Henry Charles Howard 13th Duke of Norfolk [aged 57] and Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower Duchess Norfolk [aged 61]. They were half fifth cousin once removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 4th December 1850 [his son] Henry Thomas Foley 5th Baron Foley was born to Thomas Henry Foley 4th Baron Foley [aged 41] and [his wife] Mary Charlotte Fitzalan Baroness Foley [aged 28].
The London Gazette 21239. St. James's-Palace, February 27, 1852. The Queen has been pleased to appoint John William [aged 40], Earl of Sandwich, to be Captain of Her Majesty's Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, in the room of Thomas Henry [aged 43], Lord Foley, resigned.
On 27th September 1852 [his son] Fitzalan Charles John Foley 6th Baron Foley was born to Thomas Henry Foley 4th Baron Foley [aged 43] and [his wife] Mary Charlotte Fitzalan Baroness Foley [aged 30].

In 1860 [his brother-in-law] Henry Granville Fitzalan 14th Duke of Norfolk [aged 45] died. His son Henry [aged 12] succeeded 15th Duke Norfolk, 26th or 33rd Earl Arundel, 16th Earl Surrey, 13th Earl Norfolk, 23rd Baron Maltravers, 23rd Baron Arundel.
On 27th July 1863 [his mother] Cecilia Olivia Geraldine Fitzgerald Baroness Foley [aged 77] died.
Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses
Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.
