In or before 1527 [his brother] Edward Seymour 1st Duke of Somerset (age 26) and [his sister-in-law] Catherine Filliol (age 19) were married.
In 1529 Edward Burgh and [his future wife] Catherine Parr Queen Consort England (age 16) were married. They were fourth cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
Around 1531 [his brother-in-law] Anthony Ughtred (age 53) and [his sister] Elizabeth Seymour Baroness Cromwell Oakham (age 13) were married. The difference in their ages was 40 years.

Around July 1534 John Neville 3rd Baron Latimer (age 40) and [his future wife] Catherine Parr Queen Consort England (age 21) were married. She by marriage Baroness Latimer of Snape. They were third cousin once removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
In April 1536 [his brother] Edward Seymour 1st Duke of Somerset (age 36) and [his sister-in-law] Anne Stanhope Duchess Somerset (age 39) were married.
On 30th May 1536 [his brother-in-law] Henry VIII (age 44) and [his sister] Jane Seymour (age 27) were married at Whitehall Palace [Map] by Stephen Gardiner Bishop of Winchester (age 53). She by marriage Queen Consort England. He the son of King Henry VII of England and Ireland and Elizabeth York Queen Consort England. They were half fourth cousin once removed.
Eleanor Paston Countess Rutland (age 41) and Margaret Dymoke aka Mistress Coffin (age 36) were appointed Lady in Waiting to Queen Jane Seymour.
On 5th June 1536 [his brother] Edward Seymour (age 36) was created 1st Viscount Beauchamp. See Letter 1074 and Letter 1075.
William of Worcester's Chronicle of England
William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 21st December 1536 [his father] John Seymour (age 62) died.
On 3rd August 1537 [his brother-in-law] Gregory Cromwell 1st Baron Cromwell Oakham (age 17) and [his sister] Elizabeth Seymour Baroness Cromwell Oakham (age 19) were married at Mortlake, Richmond. He the son of Thomas Cromwell 1st Earl Essex (age 52) and Elizabeth Wyckes.
On 15th October 1537 [his nephew] the future Edward VI was christened by Bishop John Stokesley (age 62) at the Chapel Royal in Hampton Court Palace [Map]. Archbishop Thomas Cranmer (age 48) performed the Baptismal Rites, and was appointed Godfather. Thomas Howard 3rd Duke of Norfolk (age 64) and Queen Mary I of England and Ireland (age 21) were Godparents.
King Edward VI of England and Ireland was created Duke of Cornwall, 1st Earl Chester.
Henry Bourchier 2nd Earl Essex 3rd Count of Eu carried the Salt. Charles Brandon 1st Duke of Suffolk (age 53) was Godfather and supported the Marchioness of Exeter. Richard Long (age 43) was knighted. Thomas Cromwell 1st Earl Essex (age 52), Philip Boteler (age 45), John de Vere 15th Earl of Oxford (age 66) and John Gage (age 57) attended. Mary Scrope (age 61) carried Lady Mary's train. Robert Radclyffe 1st Earl of Sussex (age 54) carried a covered basin. Robert Radclyffe 1st Earl of Sussex carried the canopy.
[his brother] Edward Seymour 1st Duke of Somerset (age 37) helped his young niece the future Elizabeth I to carry the Crisom. Henry Courtenay 1st Marquess Exeter (age 41) supported his wife Gertrude Blount Marchioness of Exeter (age 34) to carry the child. Thomas Boleyn 1st Earl Wiltshire and Ormonde (age 60) bore a taper of virgin wax. William Fitzalan 11th or 18th Earl of Arundel (age 61) carried the train of the Prince's robe. Christopher Barker proclaimed the Prince's titles.
Edward Seymour 1st Duke of Somerset was created 1st Earl Hertford.
Nicholas Carew (age 41), Francis Bryan (age 47), Anthony Browne (age 37) and John Russell 1st Earl Bedford (age 52) surrounded the font.

Wriothesley's Chronicle [1508-1562]. 18th October 1837. Also, on Saint Lukes daiec, being Thursdaie, the Prince was proclaymed at the court "Edward, sonne and heire to King Henrie the Eight, Prince of Wales, Duke of Comewall, and Earle of Chesterd." This passage would seem to countenance the common account that the infant prince was almost immediately invested with these titles, whereas he himself tells us in his journal that he was only about to be created so when his father died, in which he is confirmed by Burnet, who says that Edward was called Prince of Wales, as the heirs to this crown are, yet he was not invested with that dignity by a formal creation.
Note e. William Fitzwilliam, descended from the ancestor of the present Earl Fitswilliam, was created Earl of Southampton, October 18th, 1537.

On the night of the 24th and 25th October 1537 [his sister] Queen Jane Seymour (age 28) died around two in the morning at Hampton Court Palace [Map] as a result of complications arising from childbirth.
On 13th December 1539 Anne of Cleves (age 24) arrived at Calais [Map]. She was met by George Tailboys 2nd Baron Tailboys 10th Baron Kyme (age 16), Thomas Seymour 1st Baron Seymour (age 31) and William Fitzwilliam 1st Earl of Southampton (age 49).
Holinshed's Chronicle [1525-1582]. 11th December 1539. The eleuenth daie of December at the turne pike on this side Graueling, was the ladie Anne of Cleue (age 24) receiued by the lord deputie (age 75) of the towne of Calis, and with the speares and horssemen belonging to the retinue there. When she came within little more than a mile of the towne of Calis, she was met by the erle of Southampton (age 49) high admerall of England, who had in his companie thirtie gentlemen of the kings houshold, as sir Francis Brian (age 49), sir Thomas Seimer (age 31), and others, beside a great number of gentlemen of his owne retinue clad in blue veluet, and crimsin satin, and his yeomen in damaske of the same colours. The mariners of his ship were apparelled in satin of Bridges, cotes & slops of the same colour. The lord admerall brought hir into Calis by Lanterne gate. There was such a peale of ordinance shot off at hir entrie, as was maruellous to the hearers. The maior presented hir with an hundred markes in gold, the merchants of the staple with an hundred souereignes of gold in a rich purse. She was lodged in the kings place called the Checker, and there she laie fifteene daies for want of prosperous wind.
On 1st May 1540 a tournament was held at Westminster [Map]. [his brother-in-law] Gregory Cromwell 1st Baron Cromwell Oakham (age 20), Thomas Poynings 1st Baron Poynings (age 28), Thomas Seymour 1st Baron Seymour (age 32), John Dudley 1st Duke Northumberland (age 36), Richard Cromwell aka Williams (age 45) and George Carew (age 36) were challengers.
On 18th December 1540 [his brother-in-law] Gregory Cromwell 1st Baron Cromwell Oakham (age 20) was created 1st Baron Cromwell Oakham. [his sister] Elizabeth Seymour Baroness Cromwell Oakham (age 22) by marriage Baroness Cromwell Oakham.
On 12th July 1543 [his former brother-in-law] Henry VIII (age 52) and [his future wife] Catherine Parr (age 30) were married at Hampton Court Palace [Map]. She was crowned Queen Consort England. His sixth and last marriage, her third marriage; her previous husband had died four months before. The difference in their ages was 21 years. He the son of King Henry VII of England and Ireland and Elizabeth York Queen Consort England. They were third cousin once removed. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
Henry's two daughters Mary (age 27) and Elizabeth (age 9) attended, as did his niece Margaret Douglas Countess Lennox (age 27).
Catherine's sister [his future sister-in-law] Anne (age 28) attended with her husband William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 42).
On 23rd December 1543 [his former brother-in-law] Henry VIII (age 52) enobled his new wife's (age 31) brother (age 31) and uncle (age 60) at ceremony in the Presence Chamber, Hampton Court Palace [Map]. Henry Grey 1st Duke of Suffolk (age 26) and Edward Stanley 3rd Earl of Derby (age 34) were present. Christopher Barker read the Patents.
William Parr 1st Baron Parr of Horton was created 1st Baron Parr of Horton. William was sixty with five daughters. He died four years later at which time the Barony became extinct.
William Parr 1st Marquess Northampton was created 1st Earl Essex. His estranged wife Anne Bourchier 7th Baroness Bourchier (age 26) was daughter of the last Earl of Essex of the Fifth Creation. A somewhat curious choice given his wife had eloped the year previous year with John Lyngfield, the prior of Tandbridge, Surrey [Map], by whom she had an illegitimate child.
In 1545 Thomas Seymour 1st Baron Seymour (age 37) was appointed Warden of the Cinque Ports.

Diary of Edward VI. 31st January 1547. The next day, being the [31st] of [January], he was brought to the towre of London, whear he taried th'espace of three wekes; and in the mean season the counsel sat every day for the performaunce of the will1, and at length thought best that the erle of Hartford shuld be made Due of Somerset, sir Thomas Seimour Lord Sudley, the erle of Essex [his future brother-in-law] Marquis of Northampton (age 35), and divers knights should be mad Barons, as the lord Sheffield (age 25), with divers other.2 Also thei thought best to chose the duke of Somerset to be Protectour of the realm and Governour of the Kinges person during his minorite, to which al the gentlemen and lordes did agre becaus he was the Kinges oncle on his mother's side.3 Also in this time the late King was buried at Windsor with much solemnite, and th' officers broke their staves, hurling them into the grave.4 But thei were restored to them again when thei come to the towre.

The duke was also constituted Lord Treasurer on the 10th of February, and the next day sworn in to that office before the lord chancellor in Westminster hall. He further became Earl Marshal (see the next page), both these high offices being vacated by the attainder of the duke of Norfolk.

Diary of Edward VI. May 1547. The lord Seimour of Sudley (age 39) maried the [his wife] quene (age 34), whos nam was Katarine, with wich mariag1 the lord Protectour was much offended.

Around May 1547 Thomas Seymour 1st Baron Seymour (age 39) and Catherine Parr Queen Consort England (age 34) were married in secret only four months after the death of King Henry VIII of England and Ireland. They were sixth cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
On 10th September 1547 an English army commanded by [his brother] Edward Seymour 1st Duke of Somerset (age 47) defeated a Scottish army commanded by James Hamilton 2nd Earl Arran (age 31) and Archibald Douglas 6th Earl Angus (age 58) at the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh at Musselburgh.
The English army included John Dudley 1st Duke Northumberland (age 43), Francis Talbot 5th Earl of Shrewsbury (age 47), Miles Partridge and Thomas Wentworth 2nd Baron Wentworth (age 22). John Thynne (age 32) and Edmund Brydges 2nd Baron Chandos (age 25) were knighted.
William Cecil 1st Baron Burghley (age 26) accompanied Edward Seymour 1st Duke of Somerset.

In 1548 [his brother-in-law] William Parr 1st Marquess Northampton (age 36) and Elisabeth Brooke Marchioness Northampton (age 21) were married. She by marriage Marchioness Northampton. They were fourth cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.
On 30th August 1548 [his daughter] Mary Seymour was born to Thomas Seymour 1st Baron Seymour (age 40) and [his wife] Catherine Parr Queen Consort England (age 36) at Sudeley Castle [Map]. Her mother died six days later.
On 5th September 1548 [his wife] Catherine Parr Queen Consort England (age 36) died from childbirth having given birth to her daughter Mary Seymour six days before. She was buried at Sudeley Castle [Map]. William Harvey (age 38) as Somerset Herald of Arms in Ordinary was the only herald to attend her funeral.
On 16th January 1549 Thomas Seymour (age 41), the [his nephew] King's (age 11) uncle, was caught trying to break in to the King's apartments at Hampton Court Palace, Richmond [Map]. He entered the privy garden and awoke one of the King's pet spaniels. In response to the dog's barking, he shot and killed it. He was arrested and taken to the Tower of London [Map].
[his brother] Edward Seymour 1st Duke of Somerset (age 49) was arrested on various charges, including embezzlement at the Bristol mint.
On 22nd February 1549 Thomas Seymour 1st Baron Seymour (age 41) was charged with thirty-three charges of treason; found guilty.
On 20th March 1549 Thomas Seymour 1st Baron Seymour (age 41) was beheaded at Tower Hill [Map]. He was buried at St Peter ad Vincula Church, Tower of London [Map]. Baron Seymour of Sudeley forfeit.
Catherine Willoughby Duchess Suffolk (age 29) became guardian to his daughter Mary Seymour.

The sixteenth of Ianuarie, sir Thomas Seimer (age 41) baron of Sudleie, lord admerall, and brother to the duke of Summerset lord protector, was arrested and sent to the tower, and after by authoritie of parlement he was attainted, and the twentith of March next insuing, in the third yeare of this kings reigne beheaded at tower hill.
