The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In 1905 [his father] George Charles Montagu 9th Earl Sandwich (age 30) and [his mother] Alberta Sturges Countess Sandwich (age 27) were married.

On 22nd May 1906 Victor Montagu 10th Earl Sandwich was born to George Charles Montagu 9th Earl Sandwich (age 31) and Alberta Sturges Countess Sandwich (age 28).

On 28th November 1928 Henry Philip Hunloke (age 21) and [his future wife] Anne Cavendish Countess Sandwich (age 19) were married at St George's Church, Hanover Square. She the daughter of Victor Christian William Cavendish 9th Duke Devonshire (age 60) and Evelyn Emily Mary Petty-Fitzmaurice Duchess Devonshire (age 58).

On 27th July 1934 Victor Montagu 10th Earl Sandwich (age 28) and Maud Rosemary Peto (age 18) were married. He the son of George Charles Montagu 9th Earl Sandwich (age 59) and Alberta Sturges Countess Sandwich (age 56).

On 11th April 1943 [his son] John Montagu 11th Earl of Sandwich was born to Victor Montagu 10th Earl Sandwich (age 36).

In 1958 Victor Montagu 10th Earl Sandwich (age 51) and Maud Rosemary Peto (age 42) were divorced.

On 7th June 1962 Victor Montagu 10th Earl Sandwich (age 56) and Anne Cavendish Countess Sandwich (age 52) were married. She the daughter of Victor Christian William Cavendish 9th Duke Devonshire and Evelyn Emily Mary Petty-Fitzmaurice Duchess Devonshire. He the son of George Charles Montagu 9th Earl Sandwich (age 87) and Alberta Sturges Countess Sandwich (age 84).

On 15th June 1962 [his father] George Charles Montagu 9th Earl Sandwich (age 87) died. His son Victor (age 56) succeeded 10th Earl Sandwich. [his wife] Anne Cavendish Countess Sandwich (age 52) by marriage Countess Sandwich.

In 1965 Victor Montagu 10th Earl Sandwich (age 58) and Anne Cavendish Countess Sandwich (age 55) were divorced.

On 25th February 1995 Victor Montagu 10th Earl Sandwich (age 88) died. His son [his son] John (age 51) succeeded 11th Earl Sandwich.

In 1998 [his former wife] Maud Rosemary Peto (age 82) died.
