Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

Around 1220 Walter Fauconberg 1st Baron Fauconberg was born at Rise Holderness.

Before November 1242 Walter Fauconberg 1st Baron Fauconberg [aged 22] and Agnes Bruce [aged 3] were married.

In 1264 [his son] Walter Fauconberg 2nd Baron Fauconberg was born to Walter Fauconberg 1st Baron Fauconberg [aged 44] and [his wife] Agnes Bruce [aged 25]. He married before 24th June 1290 Isabel Ros Baroness Fauconberg and had issue.

In April 1280 [his wife] Agnes Bruce [aged 41] died at Guisborough, Yorkshire.

Before 24th June 1290 [his son] Walter Fauconberg 2nd Baron Fauconberg [aged 26] and [his daughter-in-law] Isabel Ros Baroness Fauconberg were married. She by marriage Baroness Fauconberg.

On 24th June 1295 King Edward I of England [aged 56] created new baronies through writs for summons to his 36th Parliament

John Montfort 1st Baron Montfort [aged 31] was created 1st Baron Montfort. Alice Plaunche Baroness Montfort by marriage Baroness Montfort.

Walter Fauconberg 1st Baron Fauconberg [aged 75] was created 1st Baron Fauconberg.

Thomas Furnival 1st Baron Furnivall [aged 35] was created 1st Baron Furnivall. Joan Despencer Baroness Furnivall [aged 37] by marriage Baroness Furnivall.

Robert Fitzwalter 1st Baron Fitzwalter [aged 48] was created 1st Baron Fitzwalter. Eleanor Ferrers Baroness Fitzwalter by marriage Baroness Fitzwalter.

Ralph Basset 1st Baron Basset Drayton [aged 31] was created 1st Baron Basset Drayton. Hawise Grey Baroness Basset Drayton [aged 40] by marriage Baroness Basset Drayton.

Baron's Letter to the Pope

Before 9th March 1301 seven Earls and 96 Barons signed a letter to the Pope refuting the Pope's claim that Scotland was subject to the Pope's feudal overlordship. The letter was never sent. On 2nd November 1304 Walter Fauconberg 1st Baron Fauconberg [aged 84] died at Withernwick Holderness. His son Walter [aged 40] succeeded 2nd Baron Fauconberg.

Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough. In the same year died Sir Walter de Faucomberge [aged 84] the elder, who had married [his former wife] Agnes, sister of Peter de Brus, to whom as her share fell the castle of Skelton [Map]. He died on the Feast of the Commemoration of All Souls [2nd November 1304], that is, in the night between the feast of All Saints and the feast of All Souls, and was buried at Killing in Howdenshire, in the church of the holy nuns [Map], which had been founded by his ancestors.

Eodem anno obiit dominus Walterus de Faucomberge primus, qui duxerat Agnetem sororem Petri de Brus, cui in partem suam cecidit castrum de Skelton, die scilicet Commemorationis Animarum, inter sanctos festi præcedentis et sanctas animas festi subsequentis media quasi nocte numeratus, sepultusque est apud Killing in Howdernes in ecclesia sanctarum monialium, quæ erat ex fundatione antecessorum suorum.
