Biography of William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire 1808-1891

On 18th July 1807 [his father] William Cavendish (age 24) and [his mother] Louisa O'Callaghan were married. He the son of [his grandfather] George Augustus Henry Cavendish 1st Earl Burlington (age 53) and [his grandmother] Elizabeth Compton Countess Burlington (age 47).

On 27th April 1808 William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire was born to William Cavendish (age 25) and Louisa O'Callaghan.

On 15th January 1812 [his father] William Cavendish (age 29) died.

In 1829 William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire (age 20) and Blanche Georgiana Howard (age 16) were married. She the daughter of George Howard 6th Earl Carlisle (age 55) and Georgiana Cavendish Countess Carlisle (age 45). They were second cousins.

On 8th October 1831 [his son] William Cavendish was born to William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire (age 23) and [his wife] Blanche Georgiana Howard (age 19). Coefficient of inbreeding 1.65%.

On 19th July 1833 George Granville Leveson-Gower 1st Duke Sutherland (age 75) died. His son George (age 46) succeeded 2nd Duke Sutherland, 3rd Marquess Stafford, 20th Earl Sutherland, 4th Earl Gower, 5th Baron Gower, 9th Baronet Gower of Stittenham in Yorkshire. On 23rd July 1833 [his son] Spencer Cavendish 8th Duke Devonshire was born to William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire (age 25) and [his wife] Blanche Georgiana Howard (age 21). Coefficient of inbreeding 1.65%.

On 4th May 1834 [his grandfather] George Augustus Henry Cavendish 1st Earl Burlington (age 80) died. His grandson William (age 26) succeeded 2nd Earl Burlington.

After 4th May 1834 [his brother] George Henry Cavendish (age 23) was elected MP North Derbyshire succeededing his older brother William (age 26) when William succeeded his grandfather [his grandfather] George Augustus Henry Cavendish 1st Earl Burlington (deceased) as Earl Burlington. He held the seat until his death in 1880.

On 15th May 1834 [his son] William Cavendish (age 2) died.

On 16th March 1835 [his daughter] Louisa Caroline Cavendish was born to William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire (age 26) and [his wife] Blanche Georgiana Howard (age 23). Coefficient of inbreeding 1.65%.

On 18th January 1858 William Cavendish 6th Duke Devonshire (age 67) died at Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire [Map]. He was buried in the Cavendish Plot, St Peter's Church, Edensor [Map]. His first cousin once removed William (age 49) succeeded 7th Duke Devonshire, 10th Earl Devonshire, 10th Baron Cavendish Hardwick. Baron Clifford abeyant.

On 7th June 1864 [his son] Frederick Charles Cavendish (age 27) and [his daughter-in-law] Lucy Caroline Lyttelton (age 22) were married. No issue. He the son of William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire (age 56) and [his former wife] Blanche Georgiana Howard. They were third cousins.

On 3rd August 1865 [his son] Edward Cavendish (age 27) and [his daughter-in-law] Emma Elizabeth Lascelles were married. He the son of William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire (age 57) and [his former wife] Blanche Georgiana Howard. They were first cousins.

On 26th September 1865 [his son-in-law] Francis Leveson-Gower aka Egerton (age 41) and [his daughter] Louisa Caroline Cavendish (age 30) were married. She the daughter of William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire (age 57) and [his former wife] Blanche Georgiana Howard. He the son of Francis Leveson Gower aka Egerton 1st Earl Ellesmere and Harriet Greville Countess Ellesmere (age 62). They were second cousin once removed.

On 3rd August 1865 Edward Cavendish and Emma Elizabeth Lascelles were married. He the son of William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire and Blanche Georgiana Howard. They were first cousins.

On 21st December 1891 William Cavendish 7th Duke Devonshire (age 83) died. He was buried at the Cavendish Plot, St Peter's Church, Edensor [Map]. His son [his son] Spencer (age 58) succeeded 8th Duke Devonshire, 11th Earl Devonshire, 3rd Earl Burlington, 11th Baron Cavendish Hardwick.
