Paternal Family Tree: Irby

In 1706 [his father] Edward Irby 1st Baronet (age 29) and Dorothy Paget Lady Irby were married. She by marriage Lady Irby of Whaplode and Boston. They were second cousins.

On 8th March 1707 William Irby 1st Baron Boston was born to [his father] Edward Irby 1st Baronet (age 30).

On 11th November 1718 [his father] Edward Irby 1st Baronet (age 42) died intestate at Kings Cliffe, Northamptonshire. His son William (age 11) succeeded 2nd Baronet Irby of Whaplode and Boston.

On 26th August 1746 William Irby 1st Baron Boston (age 39) and Albania Selwyn Baroness Boston (age 27) were married.

On 9th June 1749 [his son] Frederick Irby 2nd Baron Boston was born to William Irby 1st Baron Boston (age 42) and [his wife] Albania Selwyn Baroness Boston (age 30) He married 15th May 1775 Christian Methuen and had issue.

On 29th August 1750 [his son] William Henry Irby was born to William Irby 1st Baron Boston (age 43) and [his wife] Albania Selwyn Baroness Boston (age 31). He married before 30th July 1792 Mary Blackman and had issue.

In 1761 William Irby 1st Baron Boston (age 53) was created 1st Baron Boston. [his wife] Albania Selwyn Baroness Boston (age 42) by marriage Baroness Boston.

On 1st April 1769 [his wife] Albania Selwyn Baroness Boston (age 50) died. She was buried at St Nicholas Church, Whiston [Map].

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." On 30th March 1775 William Irby 1st Baron Boston (age 68) died. His son Frederick (age 25) succeeded 2nd Baron Boston, 3rd Baronet Irby of Whaplode and Boston.
