After 10th May 1490 Alice Southill (deceased) was buried at Church of St Peter and St Paul, Exton, Rutlandshire [Map]. After 5th November 1524 John Harrington (age 10) was buried with his wife.
Fluted Period. Esses and Roses Collar. The Bedesman, Chunky Lions Mane, Swirling Tail, Dogs chewing at her dress with Studded Collar, Dress Folds at Feet and Angels supporting the pillow are all indicative of Harpur and Moorecock of Burton on Trent.

Alice Southill: Around 1460 she was born to Henry Southill at Everingham. Before 10th May 1490 she died. In 1500 John Harrington and she were married. The difference in their ages was 20 years; she, unusually, being older than him.
John Harrington: After 1480 he was born to Robert Harrington at Exton, Rutlandshire. Date adjusted from 1473 to 1480 to be consistent with father's birth in 1465. On 5th November 1524 John Harrington died at Exton, Rutlandshire.

After 21st February 1581. Church of St Peter and St Paul, Exton, Rutlandshire [Map]. Elizabethan Period monument to Robert Keilway (deceased). This memorial is attributed by Pevsner to Nicholas Johnson and by others to Nicholas Stone. Made of various marbles, a large standing wall monument of 1580, richly decorated and with a recumbent and kneeling figures of the whole family, in an aedicule, capped by obelisk, arms, etc.
His grandson Kelwey who died aged 21 weeks.
His grand-daughter Lucy Harrington Countess Bedford (age 1).
His feet resting on a horse with its head turned back.
His arms quartered 1: Keilway Arms.
A separate wall mounted monument to Robert Keilway with the inscription "Here lies Robert Keylway a distinguished esquire among civilians (whilst he lived), renowned for talent, learning and virtue, who loved retirement, lived as a Christian and died in the Lord on the 21st of February 1581 in the year of our Salvation, 1580, and the 84th year of his age. He left Anne his sole heiress and only dearly loved daughter married to John Harrington of Exton, Knt, whom he had always affectionately loved as a son and friend, by which Anne the said John had during the life of the aforesaid Robert two children, a son, Kelwey, who died Dec. 2nd, 1570, 21 weeks old, and lies buried here with his grandfather, and also a daughter Lucy still surviving, and may God grant her a long life. To pay, therefore, a just tribute to so dear and affectionate a parent and to leave to posterity an evidence of their deep gratitude, the said John and Anne have raised this. Monument and dedicated to their father, Keylwey, and their son Keylwey (to their lasting memory if it so please God) and design it, if God will, as a sepulchre for themselves also".

On 24th January 1592 James Harrington (age 81) died. He was buried in the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Exton, Rutlandshire [Map]. Monument to James Harrington and Lucy Sidney. A large standing Elizabethan Period monument with 2 kneeling figures at a prie-dieu in a double aedicule. Wrought in various marbles and enriched with low-relief carving, strapwork etc. surmounted by obelisk, and arms. Stylistically similar to the monument to Robert Keilway. Possibly sculpted by Nicholas Johnson or Nicholas Stone (age 5).
Lucy Sidney: James Harrington and she were married. Around 1520 she was born to William Sidney and Anne Pakenham at Penshurst, Kent [Map]. Around 1591 Lucy Sidney died at Exton, Rutlandshire.
On 20th March 1627 Anne Chichester (age 22) died in childbirth. She was buried in the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Exton, Rutlandshire [Map]. In north aisle, a very classical monument for its date, black and white marble table tomb with shrouded effigy.
The inscription: "Anne, Wife to Lord Bruce, Baron of Kinloss (age 28), Daughter of Sir Robert Chichester (age 49), Knight of the Bath, of an antient Family in the County of Devon, and of Frances one of the two Daughters and Coheirs of John Lord Harrington, Baron of Exton, sole heir to her Mother. A Lady endowed with a natural disposition to Vertue, a true understanding of honour, most noble behaviour, perpetual cheerfulness, most elegant Conversation, and a more than ordinary conjugal affction. She was married iv. years and ix. months, and one only child named Robert Bruce. Weakened by that birth she died in Childbirth, the xx.day of March, in the xxii. year of her age, Anno Domini M. DC. XXVII. Erected and inscribed to the memory Of his most beloved, and most deserving Wife, by The Lord Bruce."

Anne Chichester: Around 1605 she was born to Robert Chichester and Frances Harrington. On 4th July 1622 Thomas Bruce 1st Earl Elgin and she were married at Holy Trinity Church, Minories [Map].

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.
On 29th October 1682 Baptist Noel 3rd Viscount Campden (age 71) died. His son Edward (age 41) succeeded 4th Viscount Campden, 4th Baron Hicks of Ilmington in Warwickshire. Elizabeth Wriothesley Countess Gainsborough (age 36) by marriage Viscountess Campden. He was buried at Church of St Peter and St Paul, Exton, Rutlandshire [Map].
A huge monument in black and white marble, with a tall base on which stand obelisks, on balls capped by two black urns and a large open pediment. Within, are the Viscount and his fourth wife Elizabeth Bertie Viscountess Campden (age 42) in effigy and various low reliefs, depicting his previous wives and nineteen children, in Roman dress, completed by Grinling Gibbons (age 34).
Elizabeth Bertie Viscountess Campden: In 1640 she was born to Montagu Bertie 2nd Earl Lindsey and Martha Cockayne Countess Holderness. On 6th July 1655 Baptist Noel 3rd Viscount Campden and she were married. She by marriage Viscountess Campden. The difference in their ages was 29 years. She the daughter of Montagu Bertie 2nd Earl Lindsey and Martha Cockayne Countess Holderness. They were second cousin twice removed. In 1683 Elizabeth Bertie Viscountess Campden died.

James Noel: In 1668 she was born to Baptist Noel 3rd Viscount Campden and Elizabeth Bertie Viscountess Campden.
On 28th July 1690 Baptist Noel (age 31) died. He was buried at Church of St Peter and St Paul, Exton, Rutlandshire [Map].
On 17th September 1766 Lieutenant-General Bennett Noel (age 51) died. He was buried at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Exton, Rutlandshire [Map]. After 7th April 1784 Elizabeth Adams (age 51) was buried with her husband.

Lieutenant-General Bennett Noel: Lieutenant-General Bennett Noel and Elizabeth Adams were married. In 1715 he was born to John Noel and Elizabeth Sherard.
Elizabeth Adams: Around 1715 she was born to Robert Adams. In 1736 Robert Adams died. His estate, reputedly worth £100,000 was divided between his two daughters Margaretta Anna Adams and Elizabeth Adams. On 7th April 1784 she died.

A reclining female figure with a cornucopia, on a sarcophagus backed by an obelisk with medallions and putti.

Elizabeth Chapman Countess Gainsborough: In 1708 she was born. In 1728 Baptist Noel 4th Earl Gainsborough and she were married. She by marriage Countess Gainsborough. He the son of Baptist Noel 3rd Earl Gainsborough and Dorothy Manners Countess Gainsborough. After 21st March 1751 Thomas Noel and she were married. On 13th November 1771 she died.

Frances Jocelyn Countess Gainsborough: On 20th November 1814 she was born to Robert Jocelyn 3rd Earl Roden and Maria Frances Catherine Stapleton Countess Roden. On 25th July 1833 Charles Noel 1st Earl Gainsborough and she were married. The difference in their ages was 33 years. She the daughter of Robert Jocelyn 3rd Earl Roden and Maria Frances Catherine Stapleton Countess Roden. On 16th August 1841 Charles Noel 1st Earl Gainsborough was created 1st Earl Gainsborough. She by marriage Countess Gainsborough.
On 7th June 1898 Henry Lewis Noel (age 74) died.

On 10th March 1907 George Sholto Douglas-Pennant 2nd Baron Penrhyn (age 70) died. His son Edward (age 42) succeeded 3rd Baron Penrhyn of Llandegai in Carnarvonshire. Blanche Georgiana Fitzroy Baroness Penrhyn by marriage Baroness Penrhyn of Llandegai in Carnarvonshire.

George Sholto Douglas-Pennant 2nd Baron Penrhyn: On 30th September 1836 he was born to Edward Gordon Douglas-Pennant 1st Baron Penrhyn and Juliana Isabella Mary Dawkins-Pennant. In 1860 George Sholto Douglas-Pennant 2nd Baron Penrhyn and Pamela Blanche Rushout were married. On 31st March 1886 Edward Gordon Douglas-Pennant 1st Baron Penrhyn died. His son George succeeded 2nd Baron Penrhyn of Llandegai in Carnarvonshire.
Edward Sholto Douglas-Pennant 3rd Baron Penrhyn: On 10th June 1864 he was born to George Sholto Douglas-Pennant 2nd Baron Penrhyn and Pamela Blanche Rushout. In 1887 Edward Sholto Douglas-Pennant 3rd Baron Penrhyn and Blanche Georgiana Fitzroy Baroness Penrhyn were married. They were fourth cousin once removed. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. On 22nd August 1927 Edward Sholto Douglas-Pennant 3rd Baron Penrhyn died. His son Hugh succeeded 4th Baron Penrhyn of Llandegai in Carnarvonshire. Sybil Mary Hardinge Countess Fortescue by marriage Baroness Penrhyn of Llandegai in Carnarvonshire.
Blanche Georgiana Fitzroy Baroness Penrhyn: she was born to Charles Fitzroy 3rd Baron Southampton and Ismania Katharine Nugent Baroness Southampton. In November 1944 Blanche Georgiana Fitzroy Baroness Penrhyn died.

On 6th April 1941 Commander Montague Wriothesley Noel (age 48) was killed in action while on Convoy duty in the English channel. HMS Torrent, Surprise, Tornado and Radiant ran into a German minefield, with Torrent striking a German mine. Surprise and Tornado went to rescue Torrent's crew, but Torrent struck a second mine and quickly sank. In an attempt to rescue survivors, Surprise and Tornado also struck mines and sank. Only Radiant was undamaged and picked up the survivors from the three ships. In total, 12 officers and 240 other ranks were killed from the three ships. Only three of Torrent's crew survived, with 68 killed.
