On 7th December 1759 John Astley (age 35) and Penelope Vernon (age 37) were married at St Mary's Church, Rostherne, Tatton [Map]. She died three years later at which time he became the owner of the Dukinfield and Daniel estates, including Gorse Hall. When his step-daughter Henrietta Dukinfield-Daniel died in 1771 he received further wealth.
On 10th February 1780 Samuel Egerton (age 68) died. On 19th February 1780 he was buried at St Mary's Church, Rostherne, Tatton [Map]. Monument sculpted by John "The Elder" Bacon (age 39). Figures representing Hope and Patience.
The monument inscription describes those also buried in the vault: John Egerton, his wife Elizabeth Barbour buried 10th February 1743, her mother Elizabeth Hill (age 85) buried 17th April 1713 and John and Elizabeth's daughter-in-law Beatrix Copley (age 22) buried 1st May 1755.
On or before 17th April 1813 Elizabeth Hill died. She was buried at St Mary's Church, Rostherne, Tatton [Map].
On 25th November 1845 Charlotte Lucy Beatrix Egerton (deceased) was buried at St Mary's Church, Rostherne, Tatton [Map] sculpted Richard Westmacott (age 70).
Charlotte Lucy Beatrix Egerton: On 13th September 1824 she was born to Wilbraham Egerton and Elizabeth Sykes. Coefficient of inbreeding 3.12%. On 10th November 1845 Charlotte Lucy Beatrix Egerton drowned in Rostherne Mere, Tatton the evening before her wedding day, or possibly died after a short illness. Her death certificate states "Bronchitis and exhaustion after 12 days" - information provided by CB Newham.
On 17th October 1867 Reginald Cholmondeley (age 41) and Alice Mary Egerton (age 31) were married at St Mary's Church, Rostherne, Tatton [Map]. Her younger brother officiated.
