Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

In 1751 Hugh Fortescue 1st Earl Clinton (age 55) died unmarried. Earl Clinton extinct. His half brother Matthew (age 32) succeeded 2nd Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill. Baron Clinton abeyant between his sister Margaret Fortescue and his second cousin Margaret Rolle Countess Orford (age 41).

On 8th July 1752 Matthew Fortescue 2nd Baron Fortescue (age 33) and Anne Campbell Baroness Fortescue (age 24) were married. She by marriage Baroness Fortescue of Castle Hill.

In 1785 Matthew Fortescue 2nd Baron Fortescue (age 66) died. His son Hugh Fortescue (age 31) succeeded 3rd Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill.

On 16th June 1841 Hugh Fortescue 1st Earl Fortescue (age 88) died. His son Hugh (age 58) succeeded 2nd Earl Fortescue, 2nd Viscount Ebrington of Ebrington in Gloucestershire, 4th Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill. Elizabeth Geale Countess Fortescue by marriage Countess Fortescue.

On 14th September 1861 Hugh Fortescue 2nd Earl Fortescue (age 78) died. His son Hugh (age 43) succeeded 3rd Earl Fortescue, 3rd Viscount Ebrington of Ebrington in Gloucestershire, 5th Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill.

On 10th October 1905 Hugh Fortescue 3rd Earl Fortescue (age 87) died. His son Hugh (age 51) succeeded 4th Earl Fortescue, 4th Viscount Ebrington of Ebrington in Gloucestershire, 6th Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill.

The Deeds of the Dukes of Normandy

The Gesta Normannorum Ducum [The Deeds of the Dukes of Normandy] is a landmark medieval chronicle tracing the rise and fall of the Norman dynasty from its early roots through the pivotal events surrounding the Norman Conquest of England. On 14th June 1958 (his seventieth birthday) Hugh William Fortescue 5th Earl Fortescue (age 70) died four days after the death of his wife. His only son had been killed at the Battle of El Alamein. His brother Denzil (age 65) succeeded 6th Earl Fortescue, 6th Viscount Ebrington of Ebrington in Gloucestershire, 8th Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill. Marjorie Ellinor Trotter Countess Fortescue (age 64) by marriage Countess Fortescue.

On 1st June 1977 Denzil George Fortescue 6th Earl Fortescue (age 83) died. His son Richard (age 55) succeeded 7th Earl Fortescue, 7th Viscount Ebrington of Ebrington in Gloucestershire, 9th Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill.

On 7th March 1993 Richard Fortescue 7th Earl Fortescue (age 70) died. His son Charles (age 41) succeeded 8th Earl Fortescue, 8th Viscount Ebrington of Ebrington in Gloucestershire, 10th Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill.
