The King has been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal, granting the dignity, of a Baron of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland unto the Right Honourable Sir John Singleton Copley (age 54), Knight and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the name, stile, and title of Baron Lyndhurst, of Lyndhurstin the county of Southampton.

On 12th October 1863 John Singleton Copley 1st Baron Lyndhurst (age 91) died. Baron Lyndhurst of Lyndhurst in Hampshire extinct.
