On 14th September 1808 William Henry Lyttelton 1st Baron Lyttelton (age 83) died. His son George (age 44) succeeded 2nd Baron Lyttelton of Frankley in Worcestershire, 2nd Baron Westcote, 8th Baronet Lyttelton of Frankley.

All About History Books

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." On 12th November 1828 George Fulke 2nd Baron Lyttelton (age 65) died unmarried. His brother William (age 46) succeeded 3rd Baron Lyttelton of Frankley in Worcestershire, 3rd Baron Westcote, 9th Baronet Lyttelton of Frankley.

On 30th April 1837 William Henry Lyttelton 3rd Baron Lyttelton (age 55) died at Spencer House. His son George (age 20) succeeded 4th Baron Lyttelton of Frankley in Worcestershire, 4th Baron Westcote, 10th Baronet Lyttelton of Frankley.

On 25th July 1839 George William Lyttelton 4th Baron Lyttelton (age 22) and Mary Glynne Lady Lyttelton (age 26) were married. She by marriage Baroness Lyttelton of Frankley in Worcestershire. They were sixth cousins.

On 19th April 1876 George William Lyttelton 4th Baron Lyttelton (age 59) committed suicide by throwing himself down the stairs of his London home. His son Charles (age 33) succeeded 5th Baron Lyttelton of Frankley in Worcestershire, 5th Baron Westcote, 11th Baronet Lyttelton of Frankley.

On 9th June 1922 Charles Lyttelton 8th Viscount Cobham (age 79) died. His son John (age 40) succeeded 9th Viscount Cobham, 6th Baron Lyttelton of Frankley in Worcestershire, 6th Baron Westcote, 12th Baronet Lyttelton of Frankley. Violet Leonard Viscountess Cobham by marriage Viscountess Cobham.

On 31st July 1949 John Cavendish Lyttelton 9th Viscount Cobham (age 67) died. His son Charles (age 39) succeeded 10th Viscount Cobham, 7th Baron Lyttelton of Frankley in Worcestershire, 7th Baron Westcote, 13th Baronet Lyttelton of Frankley.

On 20th March 1977 Charles Lyttelton 10th Viscount Cobham (age 67) died. His son John (age 33) succeeded 11th Viscount Cobham, 8th Baron Lyttelton of Frankley in Worcestershire, 8th Baron Westcote, 14th Baronet Lyttelton of Frankley.

On 13th July 2006 John Lyttelton 11th Viscount Cobham (age 63) died in Spain. His brother Christopher (age 58) succeeded 12th Viscount Cobham, 9th Baron Lyttelton of Frankley in Worcestershire, 9th Baron Westcote, 15th Baronet Lyttelton of Frankley.
