THE King has been pleased to direct Letters Patent to be passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, granting the dignity of a Baron of the said United Kingdom unto Sir Alfred Milner (age 47), G.C.B., G.C.M.G., His Majesty's High Commissioner for South Africa and Administrator of the Transvaal and Orange River Colony, and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the name, style and title of Baron Milner, of St. James's in the county of London, and of Cape Town in the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope.

On 13th May 1925 Alfred Milner 1st Viscount Milner (age 71) died. Viscount Milner of Saint James's in London, and of Cape Town, in the Cape Colony, Baron Milner of St James' in London and Cape Town in the Cape of Good Hope extinct.
