The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." In 1852 Fitzroy James Henry Somerset 1st Baron Raglan (age 63) was created 1st Baron Raglan. Emily Harriet Wellesley-Pole Baroness Raglan (age 60) by marriage Baroness Raglan.

On 28th June 1855 Fitzroy James Henry Somerset 1st Baron Raglan (age 66) died. His son Richard (age 38) succeeded 2nd Baron Raglan.

On 25th September 1856 Richard Henry Fitzroy Somerset 2nd Baron Raglan (age 39) and Georgina Lygon Baroness Raglan (age 24) were married. She by marriage Baroness Raglan. She the daughter of Henry Beauchamp Lygon 4th Earl Beauchamp (age 72) and Susan Caroline Eliot. They were fifth cousins.

On 11th October 1871 Richard Henry Fitzroy Somerset 2nd Baron Raglan (age 54) and Mary Blanche Farquhar Baroness Raglan (age 27) were married. She by marriage Baroness Raglan. The difference in their ages was 27 years. They were first cousin once removed.

On 3rd May 1884 Richard Henry Fitzroy Somerset 2nd Baron Raglan (age 66) died at Chesterfield Street. His son George (age 26) succeeded 3rd Baron Raglan. Ethel Jemima Ponsonby Baroness Raglan (age 27) by marriage Baroness Raglan.

On 24th October 1921 George Somerset 3rd Baron Raglan (age 64) died. His son Fitzroy (age 36) succeeded 4th Baron Raglan.

On 9th April 1923 Fitzroy Somerset 4th Baron Raglan (age 37) and Julia Somerset Baroness Raglan (age 22) were married. She by marriage Baroness Raglan.

On 13th September 1964 Fitzroy Somerset 4th Baron Raglan (age 79) died. His son FitzRoy (age 36) succeeded 5th Baron Raglan.

On 24th January 2010 FitzRoy Somerset 5th Baron Raglan (age 82) died at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny. His brother Geoffrey (age 77) succeeded 6th Baron Raglan.
