On 24th January 1689 Henry Waldegrave 1st Baron Waldegrave (age 28) died. His son James (age 5) succeeded 2nd Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 5th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

On 11th April 1741 James Waldegrave 1st Earl Waldegrave (age 57) died. His son James (age 26) succeeded 2nd Earl Waldegrave, 3rd Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 6th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." His wife Frances Braham Countess Waldegrave (age 25) inherited Strawberry Hill House.

On 24th October 1859 William Waldegrave 8th Earl Waldegrave (age 70) died. His grandson William (age 8) succeeded 9th Earl Waldegrave, 10th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 13th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

On 12th August 1930 William Frederick Waldegrave 9th Earl Waldegrave (age 79) died. His son William (age 47) succeeded 10th Earl Waldegrave, 11th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 14th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

On 30th January 1933 William Waldegrave 10th Earl Waldegrave (age 50) died unmarried. His uncle Henry (age 78) succeeded 11th Earl Waldegrave, 12th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 15th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

On 30th December 1936 Henry Waldegrave 11th Earl Waldegrave (age 82) died. His son Geoffrey (age 31) succeeded 12th Earl Waldegrave, 13th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 16th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.

On 23rd May 1995 Geoffrey Waldegrave 12th Earl Waldegrave (age 89) died. His son James (age 54) succeeded 13th Earl Waldegrave, 14th Baron Waldegrave Chewton Somerset, 17th Baronet Waldegrave of Hever Castle.
