The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In 1799 Ernest Augustus King Hanover (age 27) was created 1st Duke Cumberland and Teviotdale.
In 1815 Ernest Augustus King Hanover (age 43) and Frederica Mecklenburg Strelitz Queen Consort Hanover (age 36) were married. She by marriage Duchess Cumberland and Teviotdale. He the son of King George III of Great Britain and Ireland (age 76) and Charlotte Mecklenburg Strelitz Queen Consort England (age 70). They were first cousins.
On 18th November 1851 Ernest Augustus King Hanover (age 80) died. His son George (age 32) succeeded V King Hanover, 2nd Duke Cumberland and Teviotdale. Marie Saxe Altenburg Queen Consort Hanover by marriage Queen Consort Hanover.
On 12th June 1878 George V King Hanover (age 59) died. His son Ernest (age 32) succeeded 3rd Duke Cumberland and Teviotdale.
On 22nd December 1878 Ernest Augustus Hanover 3rd Duke Cumberland and Teviotdale (age 33) and Thyra Glücksburg Duchess Cumberland and Teviotdale (age 25) were married. She by marriage Duchess Cumberland and Teviotdale. She the daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark (age 60) and Queen Louise Hesse-Kassel of Denmark (age 61). He the son of George V King Hanover and Marie Saxe Altenburg Queen Consort Hanover. They were fourth cousins. He a great grandson of King George III of Great Britain and Ireland. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.
On 14th November 1923 Ernest Augustus Hanover 3rd Duke Cumberland and Teviotdale (age 78) died. Duke Cumberland and Teviotdale extinct.
