Published March 2025. The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

In 1097 Walter Giffard 1st Earl Buckingham was created 1st Earl Buckingham.
On 15th July 1102 Walter Giffard 1st Earl Buckingham died. His son Walter succeeded 2nd Earl Buckingham.
In 1164 Walter Giffard 2nd Earl Buckingham died. Earl Buckingham extinct.

1st: Thomas of Woodstock 1st Duke of Gloucester. Died 1397. Son
2nd: Humphrey Plantagenet 2nd Earl Buckingham. Died 1399. Extinct.
In 1377 Thomas of Woodstock 1st Duke of Gloucester (age 21) was created 1st Earl Buckingham. Eleanor Bohun Duchess Gloucester (age 11) by marriage Countess Buckingham.
Around 8th September 1397 Thomas of Woodstock 1st Duke of Gloucester (age 42) was murdered in Calais [Map] for his role as leader of the Lords Appellant. Duke Albemarle, Duke Gloucester, Earl Essex forfeit. His son Humphrey (age 16) succeeded 2nd Earl Buckingham.
Walter Clopton was part of the inquiry into his death the outcome of which is not known. A John Hall was executed for the murder.
On 2nd September 1399 Humphrey Plantagenet 2nd Earl Buckingham (age 18) died. He was buried at Waldon Priory and Abbey [Map]. Earl Buckingham extinct.
Earl Buckingham (3rd Creation)

1st: George Villiers 1st Duke of Buckingham. Died 1628. Son
2nd: George Villiers 2nd Duke of Buckingham. Died 1687. Extinct.
On 5th January 1617 George Villiers 1st Duke of Buckingham (age 24) was created 1st Earl Buckingham by King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland (age 50); his favourite.
On 16th May 1620 George Villiers 1st Duke of Buckingham (age 27) and Katherine Manners Duchess Buckingham (age 18) were married. She by marriage Countess Buckingham. She the daughter of Francis Manners 6th Earl of Rutland (age 42) and Frances Knyvet Lady Bevill. He the son of George Villiers of Brokesby and Mary Beaumont 1st Countess Buckingham (age 50).
On 23rd August 1628 George Villiers 1st Duke of Buckingham (age 35) was murdered at Greyhound Pub, Portsmouth by a disgruntled soldier John Felton (age 33). He was buried at Westminster Abbey [Map]. His son George succeeded 2nd Duke of Buckingham, 2nd Marquess of Buckingham, 2nd Earl Buckingham.
Felton was considered a hero by many who blamed Buckingham for the failures of the 1625 Cádiz Expedition and 1627 Siege of Saint-Martin-de-Ré. Felton was subsequently hanged.
On 16th April 1687 George Villiers 2nd Duke of Buckingham (age 59) died. Duke of Buckingham, Marquess of Buckingham, Earl Buckingham extinct.

Around 13th August 1618 Mary Beaumont 1st Countess Buckingham (age 48) was created 1st Countess Buckingham. It appears this title was for life only since her sons did not inherit it?
On 19th April 1632 Mary Beaumont 1st Countess Buckingham (age 62) died. She was buried at the Chapel of St Nicholas, Westminster Abbey [Map] with her husband. Their monument comprises an altar-tomb surmounted with effigies. Earl Buckingham extinct.
