Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

He the son of [her grandfather] King Louis IX of France and [her grandmother] Margaret Provence Queen Consort France.

On 21st August 1274 [her father] King Philip III of France and [her mother] Maria of Brabant Queen Consort France were married. She by marriage Queen Consort of France. She the daughter of [her grandfather] Henry Reginar III Duke Brabant and [her grandmother] Adelaide Burgundy Duchess Brabant. He the son of King Louis IX of France and Margaret Provence Queen Consort France.

In 1279 Margaret of France Queen Consort England was born to [her father] King Philip III of France and [her mother] Maria of Brabant Queen Consort France.

In 1283 Roger Mowbray 1st Baron Mowbray was created 1st Baron Mowbray by [her future husband] King Edward I of England.

In 1284 [her half-brother] Charles Valois I Count Valois was created I Count Valois.

On 16th August 1284 [her half-brother] King Philip IV of France and [her sister-in-law] Joan Blois I Queen Navarre were married. She by marriage Queen Consort of France. She the daughter of Henry I King Navarre and Blanche Capet Queen Navarre. He the son of [her father] King Philip III of France and Isabella Barcelona Queen Consort France.

On 5th October 1285 [her father] King Philip III of France died of dysentery; see Annals of Dunstable. [her half-brother] King Philip IV of France succeeded IV King France: Capet. [her sister-in-law] Joan Blois I Queen Navarre by marriage Queen Consort of France.

On 16th August 1290 [her half-brother] Charles Valois I Count Valois and [her sister-in-law] Margaret Capet Countess Valois were married. She by marriage Countess Valois. 1295 Edward I Creates New Barons 36th Parliament

On 24th June 1295 [her future husband] King Edward I of England created new baronies through writs for summons to his 36th Parliament

In January 1297 Ralph Monthermer 1st Earl of Gloucester and Hertford and [her future step-daughter] Joan of Acre Countess Gloucester and Hertford were married in secret greatly offending her father [her future husband] King Edward I of England who had been planning to marry her to Amadeus V "Great" Savoy in March. Ralph Monthermer 1st Earl of Gloucester and Hertford was imprisoned at Bristol Castle, Gloucestershire; he was released in August 1297. She the daughter of King Edward I of England and Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort England.

Marriage of Princess Elizabeth and John of Holland

On 8th January 1297 John Gerulfing I Count Holland and [her future step-daughter] Princess Elizabeth of Rhuddlan Countess Essex, Hereford and Holland were married at Ipswich, Suffolk. She by marriage Countess Holland. The wedding was attended by her sister Margaret Plantagenet Duchess Brabant, her father King Edward I, her brother Edward and her future second husband Humphrey Bohun 4th Earl Hereford 3rd Earl Essex. She the daughter of King Edward I of England and Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort England. He the son of Floris Gerulfing V Count Holland and Beatrix Dampierre.

In 1298 [her brother] Louis I Count Évreux was created I Count Évreux.

22nd July 1298 Battle of Falkirk

On 22nd July 1298 [her future husband] King Edward I of England defeated the Scottish army led by William Wallace during the 22nd July 1298 Battle of Falkirk at Falkirk using archers to firstly attack the Scottish shiltrons with the heavy cavalry with infantry completing the defeat.

John de Graham and John Stewart of Bonkyll were killed.

On 6th February 1299 [her future husband] King Edward I of England created a number of new Barons by writ of summons to Edward's 44th Parliament...

John Ferrers 1st Baron Ferrers of Chartley was created 1st Baron Ferrers of Chartley.

John Lovell 1st Baron Lovel was created 1st Baron Lovel of Titchmarsh. Joan Ros Baroness Lovel by marriage Baroness Lovel of Titchmarsh.

William Ros 1st Baron Ros Helmsley was created 1st Baron Ros Helmsley. Maud Vaux Baroness Ros by marriage Baroness Ros Helmsley.

Marriage of King Edward I and Margaret of France

On 10th September 1299 King Edward I of England and Margaret of France Queen Consort England were married at Canterbury Cathedral. She by marriage Queen Consort England. The difference in their ages was 39 years. She the daughter of King Philip III of France and Maria of Brabant Queen Consort France. He the son of King Henry III of England and Eleanor of Provence Queen Consort England.

Guy Beauchamp 10th Earl Warwick was present.

Flowers of History. In that year, Lady Margaret, sister of Lord Philip, King of France, arrived at Dover around the Nativity of the Blessed Mary, and two days later [10th September 1299], Lord [her husband] Edward, King of England, joined her to himself in marriage at Canterbury by the authority of the Pope.

Quo anno domina Margareta, soror domini Philippi regis Franciæ, Doveriæ applicuit circa nativitatem beatæ Mariæ, quam post biduum dominus Edwardus rex Angliæ auctoritate Pape Cantuariæ in uxorem sibi copulavit.

On 29th December 1299 William Morley 1st Baron Morley was created 1st Baron Morley by writ of summons to [her husband] King Edward I's 47th Parliament. Isabel Mohaut Baroness Morley by marriage Baroness Morley.

On 25th May 1300 [her brother-in-law] Rudolph Habsburg III Duke Austria and [her sister] Blanche Capet Duchess Austria were married. She by marriage Duchess Austria. She the daughter of [her father] King Philip III of France and [her mother] Maria of Brabant Queen Consort France. He the son of Albert Habsburg I Duke Austria and Elizabeth Carinthia Duchess Austria.

On 1st June 1300 [her son] Thomas of Brotherton 1st Earl Norfolk was born to [her husband] King Edward I of England and Margaret of France Queen Consort England at Brotherton. He married (1) before 12th October 1326 Alice Hales Countess Norfolk and had issue (2) before 4th April 1336 Mary Brewes Countess Norfolk.

On 25th September 1300 Edmund "Almain" 2nd Earl Cornwall died. Earl Cornwall extinct. He was buried, heart and flesh, at Ashridge, Hertfordshire. His bones were interred at Hailes Abbey during a service attended by [her husband] King Edward I of England.

Edward II Created Prince of Wales

On 7th February 1301 [her step-son] King Edward II of England was created Prince of Wales by his father [her husband] King Edward I of England; the first English heir to receive the title. He was created 1st Earl Chester the same day.

On 5th August 1301 [her son] Edmund of Woodstock 1st Earl Kent was born to [her husband] King Edward I of England and Margaret of France Queen Consort England at Woodstock Palace, Oxfordshire. He married 1325 Margaret Wake Countess Kent, daughter of John Wake 1st Baron Wake of Liddell and Joan Fiennes Baroness Wake Liddell, and had issue.

In 1302 [her half-brother] Charles Valois I Count Valois and [her sister-in-law] Catherine Courtenay Countess Valois were married. She by marriage Countess Valois. He the son of [her father] King Philip III of France and Isabella Barcelona Queen Consort France.

On 14th November 1302 Humphrey Bohun 4th Earl Hereford 3rd Earl Essex and [her step-daughter] Princess Elizabeth of Rhuddlan Countess Essex, Hereford and Holland were married. She by marriage Countess Essex, Countess Hereford. Westminster Abbey. She the daughter of [her husband] King Edward I of England and Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort England. He the son of Humphrey Bohun 3rd Earl Hereford 2nd Earl Essex and Maud Fiennes Countess Essex and Hereford.

In or before 1303 [her brother] Louis I Count Évreux and [her sister-in-law] Margaret Artois Countess Évreux were married. She by marriage Countess Évreux. He the son of [her father] King Philip III of France and [her mother] Maria of Brabant Queen Consort France.

On 1st March 1305 [her sister] Blanche Capet Duchess Austria died.

In 1306 [her daughter] Eleanor Plantagenet was born to [her husband] King Edward I of England and Margaret of France Queen Consort England She died aged five in 1311.

Before 12th December 1306 Roger Bigod 5th Earl Norfolk died. Earl Norfolk extinct. In 1302 Roger Bigod 5th Earl Norfolk had surrendered his Earldom to [her husband] King Edward I and was recreated Earl Norfolk with the remainder "to the heirs of his body" effectively disinheriting his brother John Bigod. Its not clear why he did so.

On 23rd April 1307 [her step-daughter] Joan of Acre Countess Gloucester and Hertford died at Clare, Suffolk.

Death of King Edward I

On 7th July 1307 [her husband] King Edward I of England died at Burgh by Sands whilst on his way north to Scotland. [her step-son] King Edward II of England succeeded II King of England. Earl Chester merged with the Crown.

Edward had gathered around him Thomas Plantagenet 2nd Earl of Leicester, 2nd Earl Lancaster, Earl of Salisbury and Lincoln, Guy Beauchamp 10th Earl Warwick, Aymer de Valence 2nd Earl Pembroke and Robert Clifford 1st Baron Clifford and charged them with looking after his son in particular ensuring Piers Gaveston 1st Earl Cornwall didn't return from exile.

In 1308 [her half-brother] Charles Valois I Count Valois and [her sister-in-law] Mahaut Chatillon Countess Valois were married. She by marriage Countess Valois. The difference in their ages was 22 years. She the daughter of Guy Chatillon IV Count Saint Pol and Marie Capet. He the son of [her father] King Philip III of France and Isabella Barcelona Queen Consort France.

In 1311 [her daughter] Eleanor Plantagenet died.

On 29th November 1314 [her half-brother] King Philip IV of France died. [her nephew] Louis X King France I Navarre succeeded X King France: Capet. Margaret of Burgundy Queen Consort France by marriage Queen Consort of France although she was in prison for adultery at the time and died four months later.

On 30th April 1315 Enguerrand de Marigny was hanged. He had been arrested on the orders of [her nephew] Louis X King France I Navarre at the instigation of [her half-brother] Charles of Valois. Twenty-eight articles of accusation including charges of receiving bribes were brought against him but none could be found to be true. Charles then brought forward a charge of sorcery which was more effectual. He was condemned at once and hanged on the public gibbet of Montfaucon.

Death of Queen Consort Margaret of France

On 14th February 1318 Margaret of France Queen Consort England died at Marlborough Castle. She was buried at Christ Church, Greyfriars. Her tomb was destroyed during the Reformation.
