Biography of Albert "Achilles" Elector Brandenburg 1414-1486

On 9th November 1414 Albert "Achilles" Elector Brandenburg was born to [his father] Frederick I Elector Brandenburg (age 43).

In 1415 [his father] Frederick I Elector Brandenburg (age 43) was appointed Elector Brandenburg.

On 20th September 1440 [his father] Frederick I Elector Brandenburg (age 68) died.

On 29th October 1451 [his daughter] Elisabeth of Brandenburg was born to Albert "Achilles" Elector Brandenburg (age 36). She married 1465 Eberhard II Duke of Württemberg.

On 2nd August 1455 [his son] John "Cicero" Hohenzollern Elector Brandenburg was born to Albert "Achilles" Elector Brandenburg (age 40). He married 25th August 1476 his second cousin twice removed Margaret of Thuringia and had issue.

On 8th May 1460 [his son] Frederick Hohenzollern I Margrave Brandenburg-Ansbach was born to Albert "Achilles" Elector Brandenburg (age 45). He married 14th February 1479 his second cousin twice removed Sophia Jagiellon Margravine of Brandenburg-Ansbach and had issue.

Between 1465 and 1467 [his son-in-law] Eberhard II Duke of Württemberg (age 17) and Elisabeth of Brandenburg (age 13) were married. She the daughter of Albert "Achilles" Elector Brandenburg (age 50).

Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke

Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.

On 25th August 1476 John "Cicero" Hohenzollern Elector Brandenburg (age 21) and Margaret of Thuringia (age 27) were married. He the son of Albert "Achilles" Elector Brandenburg (age 61). They were second cousin twice removed.

On 14th February 1479 Frederick Hohenzollern I Margrave Brandenburg-Ansbach (age 18) and Sophia Jagiellon Margravine of Brandenburg-Ansbach (age 14) were married. He the son of Albert "Achilles" Elector Brandenburg (age 64). They were second cousin twice removed.

On 11th March 1486 Albert "Achilles" Elector Brandenburg (age 71) died. His son John (age 30) succeeded Elector Brandenburg. His son Frederick (age 25) succeeded I Margrave Brandenburg-Ansbach. Sophia Jagiellon Margravine of Brandenburg-Ansbach (age 21) by marriage Margravine Brandenburg-Ansbach.
