The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 23rd November 1221 [her son] Alfonso X King Castile X King Leon was born to [her husband] Ferdinand III King Castile III King Leon (age 22) and Elisabeth Hohenstaufen Queen Consort Castile Queen Consort Leon (age 16). He a great x 2 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

In 1225 [her son] Ferdinand Ivrea was born to [her husband] Ferdinand III King Castile III King Leon (age 26) and Elisabeth Hohenstaufen Queen Consort Castile Queen Consort Leon (age 19). He a great x 2 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

In 1227 [her daughter] Eleanor Ivrea was born to [her husband] Ferdinand III King Castile III King Leon (age 28) and Elisabeth Hohenstaufen Queen Consort Castile Queen Consort Leon (age 21). She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

In 1228 [her daughter] Berengaria Ivrea was born to [her husband] Ferdinand III King Castile III King Leon (age 29) and Elisabeth Hohenstaufen Queen Consort Castile Queen Consort Leon (age 22). She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

On 5th November 1235 (possibly March) Elisabeth Hohenstaufen Queen Consort Castile Queen Consort Leon (age 30) died in Toro, Zamora.

In October 1237 [her former husband] Ferdinand III King Castile III King Leon (age 38) and Joan Dammartin Queen Consort Castile and Leon (age 17) were married in Burgos [Map]. She by marriage Queen Consort Castile, Queen Consort Leon. The difference in their ages was 21 years. She the daughter of Simon Dammartin (age 57) and Marie Montgomery Countess Ponthieu (age 38). He the son of [her former father-in-law] Alfonso IX King Leon and [her former mother-in-law] Berengaria Ivrea I Queen Castile (age 58). They were second cousin once removed. He a great grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England.

On 30th May 1252 [her former husband] Ferdinand III King Castile III King Leon (age 53) died. His son [her son] Alfonso (age 30) succeeded X King Castile, X King Leon. [her daughter-in-law] Violante Barcelona Queen Consort Castile Queen Consort Leon by marriage Queen Consort Castile, Queen Consort Leon.
