On 5th May 1352 Rupert King Germany was born to [his father] Rupert II Elector Palatine (age 26) and [his mother] Beatrice of Sicily (age 25).

On 12th October 1365 [his mother] Beatrice of Sicily (age 39) died.

On 27th June 1374 Rupert King Germany (age 22) and Elisabeth Hohenzollern (age 16) were married at Amberg. She the daughter of Frederick Hohenzollern V Burgrave Nuremburg (age 41).

In 1375 Albert "With the Pigtail" Habsburg III Duke Austria (age 25) and [his sister-in-law] Beatrix Hohenzollern Duchess Austria (age 13) were married at Vienna [Map]. She by marriage Duchess Austria. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Frederick Hohenzollern V Burgrave Nuremburg (age 41). On 20th February 1375 [his son] Rupert Pipan Wittelsbach was born to Rupert King Germany (age 22).

In 1376 [his daughter] Margaret Wittelsbach Duchess Lorraine was born to Rupert King Germany (age 23). She married 6th February 1393 her fourth cousin Charles Metz II Duke Lorraine, son of John Metz I Duke Lorraine and Sophie Württemberg Duchess Lorraine, and had issue.

Around 1377 [his son] Frederick Wittelsbach was born to Rupert King Germany (age 24).

On 23rd January 1378 [his son] Louis Wittelsbach III Elector Palatine was born to Rupert King Germany (age 25). He married (1) 6th July 1402 his fourth cousin once removed Blanche Lancaster Elector Palatinate (2) 30th November 1417 Matilda of Savoy and had issue.

Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes

Récits d’un bourgeois de Valenciennes aka The Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes is a vivid 14th-century vernacular chronicle written by an anonymous urban chronicler from Valenciennes in the County of Hainaut. It survives in a manuscript that describes local and regional history from about 1253 to 1366, blending chronology, narrative episodes, and eyewitness-style accounts of political, military, and social events in medieval France, Flanders, and the Low Countries. The work begins with a chronological framework of events affecting Valenciennes and its region under rulers such as King Philip VI of France and the shifting allegiances of local nobility. It includes accounts of conflicts, sieges, diplomatic manoeuvres, and the impact of broader struggles like the Hundred Years’ War on urban life in Hainaut. Written from the perspective of a burgher (bourgeois) rather than a monastery or royal court, the chronicle offers a rare lay viewpoint on high politics and warfare, reflecting how merchants, townspeople, and civic institutions experienced the turbulence of the 13th and 14th centuries. Its narrative style combines straightforward reporting of events with moral and civic observations, making it a valuable source for readers interested in medieval urban society, regional politics, and the lived experience of war and governance in pre-modern Europe.

In 1383 [his son] John Wittelsbach Count Palatine was born to Rupert King Germany (age 30).

On 15th October 1383 Hermann II Landgrave of Hesse (age 42) and [his sister-in-law] Margaret Hohenzollern (age 23) were married at Kulmbach. She by marriage Landgravine Hesse. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Frederick Hohenzollern V Burgrave Nuremburg (age 50).

On 23rd June 1385 [his son] Stephen Count Palatine Simmern 1385-1459-Zweibrücken was born to Rupert King Germany (age 33).

On 24th August 1390 [his son] Otto I Wittelsbach I Count Palatine was born to Rupert King Germany (age 38).

On 6th February 1393 [his son-in-law] Charles Metz II Duke Lorraine (age 28) and Margaret Wittelsbach Duchess Lorraine (age 17) were married. She by marriage Duchess Lorraine. She the daughter of Rupert King Germany (age 40). He the son of John Metz I Duke Lorraine and Sophie Württemberg Duchess Lorraine. They were fourth cousins.

On 25th January 1397 [his son] Rupert Pipan Wittelsbach (age 21) died.

Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

On 6th July 1402 Louis Wittelsbach III Elector Palatine (age 24) and Blanche Lancaster Elector Palatinate (age 10) were married. She the daughter of King Henry IV of England (age 35) and Mary Bohun. He the son of Rupert King Germany (age 50). They were fourth cousin once removed.

In 1406 [his sister-in-law] Margaret Hohenzollern (age 46) died at Gudensberg.

Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke

Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.
