The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

His brother John (age 61) succeeded 3rd Earl Aldborough, 3rd Viscount Aldborough of Belan in Kildare, 3rd Baron Baltinglass of Wicklow. Elizabeth Hamilton Countess Aldborough (age 44) by marriage Countess Aldborough.

Calendar of the State Papers of William and Mary 1693 January. 23rd January 1693. Dublin Castle. Viscount Sydney to the Earl of Nottingham. I herewith send you a list of such popish officers and the number of priests that were by a late general Order in Council taken within the provinces of Leinster and Ulster, whereby you can compare them one with another. The returns are not yet made for the other two provinces of Munster and Connaught, but as soon as they are will send you alike list of them. This late general seizure was occasioned upon some apprehensions we had of a French descent upon this kingdom, but as those apprehensions are now blown over, or in a great manner lessened, the persons who were imprisoned are now set at liberty upon giving security for their good behaviour and promising to come forth when required, only excepting the regular clergy, who are still imprisoned till his Majesty's pleasure be known in telation to them, and' for this purpose I send your lordships copies of a report from a Committee of the Council appointed to consider what may be fit to be done with the regular priests and of the Board's concurrence with the said report, which I desire you will lay before the King and let me know how he will have the regular clergy dealt with. On 6th November 1557 Frances Coleclough was born to Anthony Coleclough at Kildare Castle.
Before 28th August 1799 Nicholas Lawless 1st Baron Cloncurry (age 63) commissioned the building of Maretimo House and Lyons House.
In 1807 Valentine Lawless 2nd Baron Cloncurry (age 33) brought an action for criminal conversation against John Bennett Piers 6th Baronet (age 35) whose dalliance with Lady Cloncurry had been witnessed by the painter Gaspare Gabrielli while he was at work painting frescoes at Lyons House. Piers did not contest the action. Lawless was awarded the then enormous sum of £20,000 in damages. He obtained a divorce from his wife in 1811 by Act of Parliament.
On 21st September 1888 Desmond Fitzgerald was born to Gerald Fitzgerald 5th Duke Leinster (age 37) and Hermione Wilhelmina Duncombe Duchess Leinster (age 24) at Carton House, Maynooth.
On 12th November 1724 Paul Pechell 1st Baronet was born to Lieutenant-Colonel Jacob Pechell of Owenstown, County Kildare and Jane Boyd at Owenstown, Kildare.
