The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 4th February 1856 William Hare 2nd Earl Listowel (age 54) died. His son William (age 22) succeeded 3rd Earl Listowel in County Kerry.
On 31st August 1865 William Hare 3rd Earl of Listowel (age 32) and Ernestine Mary Brudenell-Bruce Countess Listowell (age 18) were married. She by marriage Countess Listowel in County Kerry. She the daughter of Ernest Brudenell-Bruce 3rd Marquess Ailesbury (age 54) and Louisa Elizabeth Horsley Beresford Marchioness Ailesbury (age 51). He the son of William Hare 2nd Earl Listowel and Maria Augusta Windham Countess Listowel (age 60).
On 5th June 1924 William Hare 3rd Earl of Listowel (age 91) died. His son Richard (age 57) succeeded 4th Earl Listowel in County Kerry.
On 16th November 1931 Richard Granville Hare 4th Earl of Listowel (age 65) died. His son William (age 25) succeeded 5th Earl Listowel in County Kerry.
On 12th March 1997 William Hare 5th Earl of Listowel (age 90) died. His son Francis (age 32) succeeded 6th Earl Listowel in County Kerry.
