The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In 1275 Henry Luxemburg VII Holy Roman Emperor was born to Henry Luxemburg VI Count Luxemburg (age 35) and Beatrice Avesnes Countess Luxemburg at Valciennes.

On 5th June 1288 [his father] Henry Luxemburg VI Count Luxemburg (age 48) died.

On 9th July 1292 Henry Luxemburg VII Holy Roman Emperor (age 17) and Margaret Brabant Countess Luxemburg and Namur were married at Tervuren. He the son of Henry Luxemburg VI Count Luxemburg and Beatrice Avesnes Countess Luxemburg.

On 10th August 1296 [his son] King John I of Bohemia was born to Henry Luxemburg VII Holy Roman Emperor (age 21) and [his wife] Margaret Brabant Countess Luxemburg and Namur.

In 1304 [his daughter] Marie Luxemburg Queen Consort France was born to Henry Luxemburg VII Holy Roman Emperor (age 29) and [his wife] Margaret Brabant Countess Luxemburg and Namur.

In 1305 [his daughter] Beatrix Luxemburg Queen Consort Hungary was born to Henry Luxemburg VII Holy Roman Emperor (age 30) and [his wife] Margaret Brabant Countess Luxemburg and Namur.

Coronation of Edward II and Isabella

Adam Murimuth Continuation. 25th February 1308... both he and the queen were crowned by the Bishop of Winchester, Henry, by the commission of Lord Robert, Archbishop of Canterbury. And present at the said coronation were [his future son-in-law] Charles (age 13), the brother of the queen (age 13), who later became King of France, Duke of Brittany, Henry (age 33), Count of Luxembourg, who later became Emperor, and Peter de Gavestone (age 24), who nobly appeared, surpassing all, incurred the envy and hatred of all. Also, Louis (age 31), the brother of the King of France (age 39), was there.

On 24th August 1313 Henry Luxemburg VII Holy Roman Emperor (age 38) died. He was buried at Pisa Duomo. His half fourth cousin Louis (age 31) succeeded IV Holy Roman Emperor.
