The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." In 1632 Willem Adriaan van Nassau Ouderkerk was born to Louis Nassau Beverweert (age 30) at The Hague.
Before 4th March 1635 Emilia Nassau Beverweert Countess Ossory was born to Louis Nassau Beverweert (age 33) in The Hague. On 4th March 1635 Emilia Nassau Beverweert Countess Ossory was baptised.
In 1640 Henry de Nassau Lord Overkirk was born to Louis Nassau Beverweert (age 38) at The Hague.
John Evelyn's Diary. 26th May 1641, I passed by a straight and commodious river through Delft to Hague; in which journey I observed divers leprous poor creatures dwelling in sohtary huts on the brink of the water, and permitted to ask the charity of passengers, which is conveyed to them in a floating box that they cast out.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.
John Evelyn's Diary. 27th May 1641. Arrived at Hague, I went first to the Queen of Bohemia's (age 44) Court, where I had the honour to kiss her Majesty's hand, and several of the Princesses' her daughters. Prince Maurice (age 20) was also there, newly come out of Germany, and my Lord Finch (age 19), not long before fled out of England from the fury of the Parliament. It was a fasting-day with the Queen for the unfortunate death of her husband, and the presence-chamber had been hung with black velvet ever since his decease.

In 1644 Simon Pietersz Verelst was born to Pieter Hermansz Verelst (age 26) at The Hague.
On 7th December 1646 Frederick William "Great Elector" Hohenzollern Elector Brandenburg (age 26) and Luise Henriette Orange Nassau (age 19) were married at The Hague. They were half first cousin once removed.
In 1648 King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 17) travelled to where his sister Mary Stewart Princess Orange (age 16) and brother in law William Orange Nassau II Prince Orange (age 21) were living at The Hague.
Around 1648 Daniel Mijtens (age 58) died in The Hague.
On 6th May 1651 Mary Walters was born illegitimately to King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 20) and Lucy Walter (age 21) at The Hague. King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland didn't acknowledge her. Her father is some somewhat speculative; he may have been Theobald Taaffe 1st Earl Carlingford (age 48) or Henry Bennet 1st Earl Arlington (age 33).
On 28th February 1665 Louis Nassau Beverweert (age 63) died at The Hague.
The London Gazette 662. 21st March 1672. The Hague. 1672 Attack on the Smyrna Fleet. Most of our Smirna Fleet are arrived in Zealand and in the Maes, together with the Mep of war, under whose Convoy they were, though extremely torn and very much disabled five of our Merchant men were taken bythe English-two of which were the richest in the Fleet, laden with Silks and other rich Commodities, and were called the Landtman oi Amsterdam, and the Vrede of Rotterdam, besides one of our men of War, called the Little Holland, mounted with 44 Guns and 150 men J Captain de Hies Admiral of this Fleet was killed in this engagement, with many of our men, and many more wounded, who have been since brought a shore at Rotterdam and other places. The men of War which served for Convoys to the said Fleet were.

He was, apparently, forced into the marriage to pay off his, or his father's debts since she brought a considerable dowry. She the daughter of William Cadogan 1st Earl Cadogan (age 47) and Margaret Cecilia Munter Countess Cadogan. He the son of Charles Lennox 1st Duke Richmond (age 47) and Anne Brudenell Duchess Richmond (age 48).
On 8th March 1748 William Orange Nassau V Prince Orange was born to Willam Karel Hendrik Friso Orange Nassau (age 36) and Princess Anne Hanover (age 38) at The Hague. He a grandson of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.
On 18th December 1760 Georg Wilhelm Nassau Weilburg was born to Charles Christian Nassau Weilburg (age 25) and Carolina Orange Nassau (age 17) at The Hague. He a great grandson of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.
On 12th December 1761 Wilhelm Ludwig Nassau Weilburg was born to Charles Christian Nassau Weilburg (age 26) and Carolina Orange Nassau (age 18) at The Hague. He a great grandson of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.
