William of Worcester's Chronicle of England

William of Worcester, born around 1415, and died around 1482 was secretary to John Fastolf, the renowned soldier of the Hundred Years War, during which time he collected documents, letters, and wrote a record of events. Following their return to England in 1440 William was witness to major events. Twice in his chronicle he uses the first person: 1. when writing about the murder of Thomas, 7th Baron Scales, in 1460, he writes '… and I saw him lying naked in the cemetery near the porch of the church of St. Mary Overie in Southwark …' and 2. describing King Edward IV's entry into London in 1461 he writes '… proclaimed that all the people themselves were to recognize and acknowledge Edward as king. I was present and heard this, and immediately went down with them into the city'. William’s Chronicle is rich in detail. It is the source of much information about the Wars of the Roses, including the term 'Diabolical Marriage' to describe the marriage of Queen Elizabeth Woodville’s brother John’s marriage to Katherine, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, he aged twenty, she sixty-five or more, and the story about a paper crown being placed in mockery on the severed head of Richard, 3rd Duke of York.

On 5th December 1695 [his father] Frederick IV King of Denmark and Norway (age 24) and [his mother] Louise of Mecklenburg Güstrow Queen Consort Denmark and Norway (age 28) were married. He the son of [his grandfather] Christian V King of Denmark and Norway (age 49) and [his grandmother] Charlotte Amalie Hesse-Kassel Queen Consort Denmark and Norway (age 45). They were third cousin once removed.

On 10th December 1699 Christian VI was born to [his father] Frederick IV King of Denmark and Norway (age 28) and [his mother] Louise of Mecklenburg Güstrow Queen Consort Denmark and Norway (age 32).

On 15th March 1721 [his mother] Louise of Mecklenburg Güstrow Queen Consort Denmark and Norway (age 53) died. The day after her funeral her husband [his father] Frederick IV King of Denmark and Norway (age 49) married [his step-mother] Anne Sophie Reventlow Queen Consort Denmark and Norway (age 27) whom he had previously married bigamously.

On 4th April 1721 [his father] Frederick IV King of Denmark and Norway (age 49) and [his step-mother] Anne Sophie Reventlow Queen Consort Denmark and Norway (age 27) were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Denmark and Norway. The difference in their ages was 21 years. He the son of [his grandfather] Christian V King of Denmark and Norway and [his grandmother] Charlotte Amalie Hesse-Kassel Queen Consort Denmark and Norway.

On 31st March 1723 [his son] Frederick V King of Denmark and Norway was born to Christian VI (age 23) at Christiansborg Castle. He married (1) 11th December 1743 his third cousin once removed Louise Hanover Queen Consort Denmark and Norway, daughter of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland and Caroline Hohenzollern Queen Consort England, and had issue (2) 8th July 1752 Juliana Maria Welf Queen Consort Denmark and Norway and had issue.

On 12th October 1730 [his father] Frederick IV King of Denmark and Norway (age 59) died. His son Christian (age 30) succeeded VI King of Denmark and Norway.

On 11th December 1743 [his son] Frederick V King of Denmark and Norway (age 20) and [his daughter-in-law] Louise Hanover Queen Consort Denmark and Norway (age 18) were married. She by marriage Queen Consort Denmark and Norway. She the daughter of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland (age 60) and Caroline Hohenzollern Queen Consort England. He the son of Christian VI King of Denmark and Norway (age 44). They were third cousin once removed.

On 6th August 1746 Christian VI (age 46) died. His son Frederick (age 23) succeeded V King of Denmark and Norway.
