Biography of David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield 1727-1796

On 9th October 1727 David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield was born to [his father] David Murray 6th Viscount Stormont (age 37).

On 19th November 1731 [his grandfather] David Murray 5th Viscount of Stormont (age 66) died. His son [his father] David (age 41) succeeded 6th Viscount Stormont.

On 23rd July 1748 [his father] David Murray 6th Viscount Stormont (age 58) died. His son David (age 20) succeeded 7th Viscount Stormont.

On 16th August 1759 David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield (age 31) and Henrietta Frederica von Bünau were married.

On 18th May 1760 [his daughter] Elizabeth Murray was born to David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield (age 32) and [his wife] Henrietta Frederica von Bünau at Warsaw. She married 10th December 1785 George Finch-Hatton and had issue.

On 10th March 1766 [his wife] Henrietta Frederica von Bünau died.

In 1776 [his uncle] William Murray 1st Earl Mansfield (age 70) was created 1st Earl Mansfield in Nottinghamshire with a special remainder to Louisa Cathcart 2nd Countess Mansfield (age 18) the second wife of his nephew David Murray (age 48).

On 5th May 1776 David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield (age 48) and Louisa Cathcart 2nd Countess Mansfield (age 18) were married. The difference in their ages was 30 years.

On 7th March 1777 [his son] David William Murray 3rd Earl of Mansfield was born to David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield (age 49) and [his wife] Louisa Cathcart 2nd Countess Mansfield (age 19). He married 16th September 1797 Frederica Markham Countess Mansfield, daughter of Archbishop William Markham, and had issue.

On 10th December 1785 [his son-in-law] George Finch-Hatton (age 38) and Elizabeth Murray (age 25) were married. She the daughter of David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield (age 58) and Henrietta Frederica von Bünau.

On 26th December 1790 [his sister-in-law] Jane Cathcart (age 36) died.

In 1792 [his uncle] William Murray 1st Earl Mansfield (age 86) was created 1st Earl Mansfield in Middlesex with a special remainder to his nephew David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield (age 64). There was no such place as Mansfield in Middlesex; it was invented to differentiate it from the earlier Mansfield in Nottinghamshire creation.

On 20th March 1793 [his uncle] William Murray 1st Earl Mansfield (age 88) died. Baron Mansfield in Nottinghamshire extinct. His nephew David (age 65) succeeded 2nd Earl Mansfield in Middlesex. [his wife] Louisa Cathcart 2nd Countess Mansfield (age 35) by marriage Countess Mansfield in Middlesex. His niece-in-law Louisa Cathcart 2nd Countess Mansfield succeeded 2nd Countess Mansfield in Nottinghamshire.

On 1st September 1796 David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield (age 68) died. His son David (age 19) succeeded 3rd Earl Mansfield in Middlesex, 8th Viscount Stormont.

On 11th July 1843 [his former wife] Louisa Cathcart 2nd Countess Mansfield (age 85) died. Her grandson William (age 37) succeeded 3rd Earl Mansfield in Nottinghamshire.
