Francis Hay 9th Earl Erroll and Elizabeth Douglas Countess Erroll were married. She by marriage Countess Erroll. She the daughter of William Douglas 6th Earl Morton and Agnes Leslie Countess Morton. He the son of Andrew Hay 8th Earl Erroll and Jean Hay. They were fourth cousins.

Around June 1552 [his father] Andrew Hay 8th Earl Erroll (age 21) and [his mother] Jean Hay (age 12) were married. In October 1584 Colin Campbell 6th Earl Argyll (age 40) died. His son [his brother-in-law] Archibald (age 9) succeeded 7th Earl Argyll. Agnes Douglas Countess Argyll (age 10) by marriage Countess Argyll.

Battle of Glenlivet

3rd October 1594. The Battle of Glenlivet was battle fought between Protestant forces loyal to King James VI of Scotland (age 28) who were commanded by [his former brother-in-law] Archibald Campbell 7th Earl Argyll (age 19), against Catholic forces who were commanded by George Gordon, 6th Earl of Huntly (age 2), and Francis Hay 9th Earl Erroll (age 30). The Catholics won a decisive victory in the battle, but in the aftermath were subdued by King James.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

She the daughter of Francis Hay 9th Earl Erroll (age 44) and Elizabeth Douglas Countess Erroll. He the son of Robert Seton 1st Earl Winton and Margaret Montgomerie Countess Winton. They were fifth cousins.

In 1615 [his daughter] Helen Hay was born to Francis Hay 9th Earl Erroll (age 50) and Elizabeth Douglas Countess Erroll.

Around 15th October 1616 [his son-in-law] Walter Scott 1st Earl Buccleuch (age 10) and [his daughter] Mary Hay Countess Buccleuch were married. She the daughter of Francis Hay 9th Earl Erroll (age 52) and Elizabeth Douglas Countess Erroll. They were fifth cousin once removed.

In 1625 [his daughter] Helen Hay (age 10) died.

In 1628 [his daughter] Anne Hay Countess Winton (age 36) died.

On 16th July 1631 Francis Hay 9th Earl Erroll (age 67) died. His son [his son] William (age 34) succeeded 10th Earl Erroll.

The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.
