The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 17th February 1610 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater (age 15) and Elizabeth Leslie were married. She the daughter of Andrew Leslie 5th Earl Rothes (age 80). They were first cousin once removed.
After 17th February 1610 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater (age 15) and Marion Cunningham were married. She the daughter of William Cunningham 8th Earl Glencairn (age 35) and Jean Kerr Countess Glencairn. They were half second cousin once removed.
Before 14th February 1627 [his father] Walter Ogilvy 1st Lord Ogilvy of Deskford (age 67) died.
In October 1631 [his wife] Marion Cunningham died.
On 5th April 1637 [his son-in-law] William Cunningham 9th Earl Glencairn (age 27) and [his daughter] Anne Ogilvy Countess Glancairn were married. She by marriage Countess Glencairn. She the daughter of James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater (age 42) and [his wife] Elizabeth Leslie. He the son of [his former father-in-law] William Cunningham 8th Earl Glencairn and Jean Kerr Countess Glencairn. They were half second cousin once removed.
On 20th February 1638 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater (age 43) was created 1st Earl Findlater with remainder to heirs male of his body succeeding to his estates.
On 20th February 1638 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater (age 43) was re-created 1st Earl Findlater with a special remainder to his [his daughter] eldest daughter's husband, [his future son-in-law] Sir Patrick Ogilvy, provided Sir Patrick styled himseld Lord Deskford and Inchmartine..
In 1652 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater (age 57) died without male issue. [his future son-in-law] Patrick Ogilvy 2nd Earl Findlater succeeded 2nd Earl Findlater.
