Published March 2025. The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

Battle of Sahagún

On 21 Dec 1808 Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 40) defeated two regiments of French cavalry.

Battle of Benavente

On 29 Dec 1808 Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 40) commanded the cavalry at the Battle of Benavente whe defeated the elite Chasseurs à cheval of the French Imperial Guard.

Before 29 Mar 1809 Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 40) and [his future wife] Charlotte Cadogan (age 27) eloped.

On 29 Mar 1809 [his future brother-in-law] Henry Cadogan (age 29) challenged Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 40) to a duel over his adulterous relationship with his sister [his future wife] Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey (age 27): 'My Lord, I hereby request you to name a time and place where I may meet you, to obtain satisfaction for the injury done myself and my whole family by your conduct to my sister. I have to add that the time must be as early as possible, and the place not in the immediate neighbourhood of London, as it is by concealment alone that I am able to evade the Police'.

On 30 May 1809, in the morning, on Wimbledon Common Wimbledon, Surrey, [his future brother-in-law] Henry Cadogan (age 29) and Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 41) duelled. Both men discharged their pistols, honour was satisfied and the parties left the field uninjured.

In 1810 Henry Wellesley 1st Baron Cowley (age 36) and [his future wife] Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey (age 28) were divorced by an Act of Parliament following her elopement with Henry Paget (age 41). Following the divorce, Wellesley was awarded £20,000 plus costs in damages against Paget.

On 04 Mar 1810 [his illegitimate daughter] Emily Paget Countess Sydney was born illegitimately to Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 41) and [his future wife] Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey (age 28). If her birthdate is correct then she was born before her parents married on 19 Dec 1810?

On 29 Nov 1810 Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 42) and Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll (age 35) were divorced by an act of Parliament as a result of his having had an affair with Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey (age 29) whose husband Henry Wellesley 1st Baron Cowley (age 37) also sought a divorce.

Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 47) led the charge of the British heavy cavalry against Comte d'Erlon's column which checked and in part routed the French Army. He was hit by one of the last cannon shots of the day necessitating the amputation of this leg during the Battle of Quatre Bras.

Adeline Horsey Recollections. We usually spent Christmas at Beaudesert, Lord Anglesey's (age 75) lovely old place. We were always a merry party, and we dined in the large hall, which is one of the chief features of the house. Lord Anglesey was very fond of me, and used to write to me as "My dear Prima Donna!" Some of the friends staying at Beaudesert were [his son-in-law] Lord (age 38) and [his illegitimate daughter] Lady Sydney (age 33), Lord (age 52) and Lady Winchilsea, Lord (age 25) and Lady Desart (age 22), Lord Anson (age 48), Lord Ward, M. and Madame Dietrichstein, and the Duke of Northumberland (age 51), then Lord Percy. In 1846 I was bridesmaid to [his granddaughter] Lady Constance Paget (age 20), who married [his grandson-in-law] Lord Winchilsea (age 28); and my great friend, [his granddaughter] Florence Paget (age 1), afterwards married the last [his grandson-in-law] Marquis of Hastings (age 1).

On 09 Oct 1845 [his daughter] Agnes Paget (age 41) died.

In 1847 [his son] Alfred Paget (age 30) and [his daughter-in-law] Cecilia Wyndham (age 17) were married. She the daughter of George Thomas Wyndham of Cromer Hall Norfolk and Maria Augusta Windham Countess Listowel (age 41). Adeline Horsey Recollections. I remember often meeting Lady Charlotte Cadogan, who ran away with Lord Anglesey; they lived together for some years until Lady Anglesey divorced her husband, and he was free to marry Lady Charlotte. Lady Anglesey, who was a daughter of the Earl of Jersey, afterwards married the sixth Duke of Argyll, but she was a great invalid and quite a cripple during the latter part of her life.
